“Great Hotel clean good food, friendly staff (all staff)”
Reviewed 1 June 2011

My wife, daughter and the 2 grandkids stayed the sencond week in July 2010 for 3 nights and the staff service and bedrooms rooms excellent. The breakfast was great and anything for the kids was no problem: 5+6yrs of age. Toast / milk for them before bed no problem.
My wife and I had'nt been to Blackpool for many years and purchased a holiday home in Paignton, Devon in 1999. On the return journey home decided to stop off in Blackpool, normally staying in the New York Hotel ,Burlington RD. Where I went when I was my grankids age, for many years. We also stayed in the St George on the corner(not that now).
The Silversands now incorporates the New York Hotel and would'nt bypass this Hotel on our next visit. Superbly placed for all attractions yet quiet at night for the kids to sleep!

Considering the prices of other Hotels within the vicinity , I certainly would recommend this hotel for the area it is situtaed (rail staion 5min walk) and defietly family orientaed.

Keep up the good work, Richard/Elaine + ( receptionist, Scottish can't remember first name sorry!)

I stayed here with my 4 year old for 3 nights,I was on my own with him as partner had work commitments,I could not have felt more welcome, the rooms are spotless, breakfast is lovely and evening meal (4 courses) is even better,You do get a lot of pensioners here but they were such good company and even played snooker with my son,I cannot fault the place,There is entertainment on 3 evenings a week, although it doesnt go on really late so got a good sleep!I recommend this to all types of travellers and the hotel cant do enough for you.

Stopped here after reviews on Trip Adviser. Great Location for Pleasure Beach, close but not too close. Staff, particularly the owner were very accomodating, we arrive on bikes which were stored in their rear yard overnight. No wild teenagers or Stag Nights etc
Food good, bit tired decor wise but clean. Overall excellent value for money, not luxury, but exceeded expectations - would reccommend

Should have been at the Carn-Brae which is lovely but boiler had broken so at short notice had to go to here. We stayed for 3 nights bed breakfast & evening meal it was for my partners 50th birthday and he was bad for two days being sick and going to the toilet.
Food was horrible and not much of it. Heating was off more than on. No atmosphere didn,t make you welcome. Couldn't wait to leave.

Rihard4th, Owner at Silversands Hotel, responded to this review, 24 November 2010
Only one couple booked in and staying at the Silversands Hotel from the 5th to 8th November, they were offered the accommodation at the Silversands Hotel because the hotel they normally stayed at had boiler problems and no heating. The accommodation was for bed and breakfast for the first night and evening meal for the other two nights. Although the comments suggest that this couple ate at the hotel for all their meals, they failed to eat with us on the first night. To suggest that the partner had food poisoning from our hotel is totally unacceptable, none of the other 50+ guests or the person making these comments reported any problems with the food and the customary compliments were recorded.
With regards to the heating, we tend to get more complaints about the rooms being too hot than too cold. If a customer comes to reception complaining that the room is too cold then we either increase the amount of heating time or investigate the radiator in the bedroom to make sure it is working properly. All the bedrooms have thermostatic radiator valves and unless they are set at the highest level the radiators come on and off to maintain a comfortable room temperature, if this valve is not turned on enough then the customers may experience heating problems. At no time did this couple come to make any complaints at reception about the heating or any illness.
The cabaret on Saturday night was performed by a lady called Irene Silver, she performed every Saturday through the illuminations and proved to be very popular and she was enjoyed by the customers that came in to watch her. If you don’t come in to watch the cabaret when it is offered to the guests in the hotel how can anybody complain about the lack of atmosphere. Cabaret through November is offered a minimum of 5 nights through-out the week, it is not compulsory to watch but if the customers don’t turn-up it seems unfair to complain when the effort has been make by the Hotel.
The Silversands Hotel offers excellent value to our guests and the food and service we offer our customers is something we take very seriously. We have a huge number of regular guests that are constantly returning time after time and enjoy themselves immensely in Blackpool. Many of the guests are know to the Silversands Hotel staff as friends and these are truly valuable and appreciable people. They come to Blackpool to enjoy themselves and with out doubt they are not disappointed.
