First thing's first: I have to agree wholeheartedly with the other reviewers' comments about how helpful the couple running the place were - Perhaps a little too much for my liking, but then I've always been the type who's a bit uncomfortable with people running round doing everything for me! Genuinely lovely, friendly people too - Not a hint of anything false or forced about their hospitality.

I booked a one-night stay in their 2+2 family seaview room directly by phone after visiting their website. At this point I have to say that I incurred the wrath of my very fussy partner, who hates "B&Bs" with a passion following a few less-than-satisfactory experiences. The fact that she loved the place is the only reference I'd ever need!

As the name of the hotel suggests, it's aimed at the younger end of the market - It lacks the stuffy atmosphere and chintzy decor of your stereotypical Blackpool B&B. What was more surprising was how family-friendly it was. The room was clean, modern, sufficiently spacious (without being huge) and equipped with all the usual stuff you'd expect to find. The shower wasn't as powerful as I like, but that's a minor quibble.

Location is good for families, being just about halfway between the Pleasure Beach and Tower (10 - 15 mins walk from each, but there's a tram stop across the road if that's too much for you!). If you're travelling to Blackpool by car though, parking is a bit of a problem.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Funky Towers to anyone, and hope to be able to stay again next year.

We booked our family room for 5 which is a rare find! as usually family rooms dont accommodate more than 4. Our room was clean and modern and most importantly, spacious! the rest of the hotel was also modern and clean and the owners couldnt have been friendlier, I hope we can stay longer next time.

My boyfriend and I had a great weekend. We have been going to the same hotel for 13 years. The hotel is modern and it is always clean and tidy. You always get a high standard and friendly service. I can not fault Funky Towers. We go to Blackpool 3 times a year and will not stay in another hotel except for here.

We booked REALLY late and were offered a lovely seaview family room for four.

We were immediately welcomed very warmly and made to feel like proper "guests". The hotel owners couldn't have been lovelier - and they're a young couple too, which was a great surprise.

Given that our family is rather unconventional, too - two mummies and two young children - we were really pleased to be so welcomed.

Absolutely yummy cooked breakfasts, too!

Our little boy was enthralled by the Blues Brothers mannekins in the Lounge and we were all surprised by how much our daughter enjoying learning to play pool.

We had a lovely "sparkly" time, to quote our daughter and we are sure to be returning to this hard working family friendly hotel.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. MISS IT AND YOU'LL MISS OUT.
