“Perfect cottage in a wonderful location.”
Reviewed 2 weeks ago for a stay in May 2018

We stayed with our children for the Bank Holiday weekend in May 2018. The cottage is in a wonderful location with the lovely garden backing on to the river and near to Loughborough and Leicester. The cottage itself is well equipped with everything you could need. The owner is responsive and easy to book with. We will look to book this property again.

“Perfect!”
Reviewed 16 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

This perfectly located little cottage (sleeps 6 adults comfortably) was everything we could have wished for and more. There was more than adequate supplies that I have never seen in any other rental we have had, our family loved it - a home from home feeling. It truely was beautiful inside and out with the canal running along the bottom of the garden. The boys caught a few fish over our stay but our holiday was over too quickly. I would recommend Kingfisher Cottage 100% to any future renters who need a central location to visit family, friends and the most gorgeous countryside around. The village has a host of local pubs and eateries available and only a small walk away.

Thank you for your kind words. It is our home away from home and we like all our guests to feel as comfortable as we do when we visit.

“Wonderful cottage - a home from home in a super location!”
Reviewed 31 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

What a fantastic find on the internet! This cottage is a real home from home! It is a very pretty, cosy, cottage with lots of charm and supplied with just about everything you may need! The back garden backs on to the grand union canal and just a short walk up the canal this turns into the River Soar. Narrowboats pass by as do the ducks and you can sit and watch whats happening all from your very own seating area at the bottom of the garden! It was a little chilly to sit out there for long during our visit but it must be idyllic in the warmer months! There are lots of lovely pubs in Barrow-Upon Soar, one pub is almost directly opposite - The Navigation. We had a drink in here one evening but the kitchen is not currently operational from what we could gather. A short walk from the cottage and you are on the towpath. There's a lovely circular walk which takes about an hour from here. We also visited nearby Bradgate Country Park and Melton Mowbury for a famous pork pie! Other pubs we ate in were the Three Crowns in Barrow Upon Soar and The Windmill in Wymeswold. Both pubs were very friendly and the food was very good indeed!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Kingfisher Cottage and it was a wrench to have to leave!

“Stunning property and location”
Reviewed 20 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

What a beautiful cottage. I have never stayed in such a well equipped holiday home. The conservatory is delightful with a view to the garden and river beyond.
The cottage was extremely clean and tidy and the bedrooms were beautiful especially the main bedroom with balcony overlooking the garden.
The cottage was beautifully warm when we arrived and although we didn't get to meet Jim because our journey took much longer than anticipated he called later in the evening to make sure everything was okay.
Our stay was for a family wedding about 15 minutes away so was very convenient. Just wish we could have stayed a little longer.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone and have done already.
Thank you David for letting us stay.

Positive and kind comments greatly appreciated, Julie. Such mean a lot to us, as Kingfisher Cottage - where we now are - is our 'home away from home'.

“Lovely house in good location”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Kingfisher Cottage is a well looked after house with everything you need for a stay. It is also situated in a lovely location backing onto the canal. We had 5 adults staying for a long weekend using both bedrooms and the sofa bed in the lounge and there was plenty of space for all us to live and sleep comfortably during our stay. I would highly recommend this holiday rental if you wanted to stay in the area as it far exceeded our expectations and requirements.

“Had a Great Stay at this Beautiful English Cottage!”

Our family traveled to England in March with plans to stay in Leicestershire for three nights. Our group included four adults and a toddler and when we arrived we found the cottage had plenty of space for us. Two full bathrooms and ample living space downstairs made for a very comfortable stay. We especially liked the sunroom and the living room with the fireplace. The modern amenities (flatscreen TVs, wi fi, washer/dryer combo) also exceeded our expectations. The Kingfisher Cottage was in a truly picturesque location on a canal and its interior decor and finishes carried the feel of the English countryside. This was my parent's first trip to England and staying at this cottage really enhanced the experience. Many thanks to David the owner and his good friend Jim who manages the property on his behalf for making our stay a great one!

Liked best: The layout of the cottage and its decor
Liked least: Parking was tight; however this was hardly an issue as parking comes at premium in England and we were glad to have a space.
