“Stunning riverside gardens”
Review of Castle Gardens

Castle Gardens
Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This is truly a hidden gem, off the beaten track and tucked away. Another of Leicesters treasures that it doesn't want you to know about. It's snucked away between the ST Mary de Castro Church and the Soar. it has beautiful flower gardens, interesting ponds, a Maypole for goodness' sake! Places to sit and eat, contemplate life read, or just walk through to the De Mont Uni!
So.....shhhhhhh - don't tell anyone it's there.

If you are visiting Leicester Cathedral (or not!) take time to visit the nearby Castle Gardens and Park. These are open to the public and lie alongside the River Soar. This is a space of undulating lawns and gardens with many trees and shrubs. Little bridges cross the narrow river with its colourful moored houseboats. I particularly notice a garden bed full of wild flowers and plants. The ‘castle’ appears to be more of a house, and was not open during my visit. This is a lovely place to walk through or to picnic in – a real haven.
