“Loved The Stay”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Just got back today but have stayed here a few times so will write review for this stay .
Went away for a romantic night away with partner and booked here as we knew all the facility's and always found it an overall enjoyable experience . Room ?..... Partner upgraded and the suit was absolutely fantastic with a massive King size extremely comfortable bed . The bathroom was large with a big corner bath which was fantastic and it was lovely to have a separate living area. 10 / 10 !!!!! Location ?........ We had no problem with any traffic noise even though we had busy roads outside ( we were on floor 6 ) and even though I was worried about being right opposite the lifts we never heard them being used at all during the night .10 / 10 !!!!!!!!

Now the bad points ...... when the booking was made we wasn't told the Holiday Inn, for this particular weekend, was catering for 4 different functions ! We found that out after booking in and hearing groups of youngsters ( from the Irish Rugby function? ) running up and down the corridor outside ,shouting and playing hide and seek with other members of the ground as we found when going down in the lift and stopping to pick up more youngsters along the way who was getting on and off at different floors.

After going to enquirer about eating at the restaurant we were informed this was doughtful as they had to cater for 100 guests ( 45 of those being kids ) but after enquiering she let us enter . Romantic meal ? forget it , no way ! ( partner wasn't very pleased ) so we were very disappointed.

Can I just mentions 3 very very good things ? (1) the group of Irish Rugby ( Blokes ) ,that we bumped into at the lifts , were an absolute joy to talk to and an absolute laugh . (2) The petite blond barmaid behind the bar who went the extra mile to go and find Ginger Nut biscuits because I wasn't feeling well ...."Thank you" (3) The way the manager , on checking out , dealt with our complaints quickly and she was fantastic .... "Well Done "

Would we stay here again? .....100 % yes x

Room Tip: When they have functions going on go somewhere else !!!!! Check before you book x

Enjoyed the stay at Holiday inn Leicester. Clean and spacious rooms. Presence of swimming pool and fitness centre a great asset. Stayed over the bank holiday weekend. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will surely recommend. Parking had to pay extra 10 pound a day which sucks.

Stayed 2 nights with the family over the Easter weekend. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Well appointed family room with lovely comfortable beds and pillows .
All very clean tidy and well presented. Fantastic pool , sauna and steam room which are immaculately kept.
The bar and restaurant staff in particular were really friendly and helpful . The buffet breakfast was wonderful and all fresh and tasty...no need to eat again until the evening.
Lovely atmosphere throughout the hotel . I can thoroughly recommend it.

Nice, centrally located hotel. The breakfast was very good. Our room and the rest of the hotel were spotlessly clean. The views over Leicester were a bit industrial but the room was of a good size and was comfortable. Excellent staff who were all very pleasant and helpful. A good place to stay for business and pleasure.

After that, though it was sort of downhill. Room service dinner was a disaster with one thi g wring after another and breakfast was mediocre. Service was sort of OK but if one is working in an hotel in England it is important to understand and speak enough English to deal with guests' requests and respond intelligibly. AND TEA! It is our national drink. It MUST be made with boiling water and cheap teabags, on a plate, beside a mug is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn for business and found the following: paid for internet - an absolute rip off, no plug sockets by the bed - was this place built before people relied on mobiles for their alarms? Rare steak was at least cooked medium, colleague had oil spilled on his jacket, breakfast poor in terms of selection available. Location was awful - right in the middle of a ring road with grim views from the rooms. I'd stay there again if I really had to but I wouldn't recommend it,
