YUK!

The hotel is old and very unkept.
If it wernt for the bar man giving us los of drinks then id of quite happily slept on the pavement rather than the bed!
This is one of the worst hotels ive EVER stayed in.
The rooms were mouldy, messy, stains on the ceiling, floor, bathroom it was gross.
The bed was like a rock but really short.

The bar/restaurant was old and basic, price was reasonable for Leicester.

The food was average too.

Would highly NOT recommend this place!

Having read previous reviews I booked my night here with some trepidation. The web link to the restaurant page was not working (and still isn’t) so I was unsure what to expect. Check in was straightforward with the two receptionists getting things sorted quickly and efficiently. The room was clean with all the usual facilities. The shower head required dismantling and cleaning (a not uncommon requirement) to get the water going in the right direction but the water was hot and plentiful.
The restaurant was a curious affair with a hot and cold buffet. There was a menu and some items were on the buffet but not all, those which were not could be ordered. Main course was £8.95, two courses £12.95 and a third course option. The starter was a do-it-yourself affair. Prawn Cocktail was on the menu with all the ingredients on the buffet and I made my own. I had the individual steak pie as a main which was hot and very nice. The veg were tired and only lukewarm but the chips were cooked to order. The lady in charge of the restaurant (Stephanie?) was bubbly and attentive with nothing apparently too much trouble. Breakfast was a similar buffet experience with hot drinks brought to your table with the General Manager, David Greenwood, helping out and taking an obvious interest in things.
My only complaint were the room lights which turned all the bed and reading lights off when the main room light was turned off. This left you trying to walk around the room in pitch blackness and is obviously dangerous. They said they would get the electrician to look at it, and also the room below, as they had a similar complaint from that room.
Overall it was not an unpleasant experience and, based on the staff I dealt with, I would stay there again.

The hotel (actual building) was just 'ok', a little tired but did the job. The staff on the other hand did not. They seemed inconvienced by the customers! They were much more interested in their own conversations rather than serving us or clearing the dirty glasses off the many tables in the foyer. The credit card machine didn't wrk, no water in the pool and a receptionist that said they could not help with my reservation query and I was to wait until the folowing afternoon to speak to someone else! After over an hour waiting (even had time for a meal) I left in frustration and stayed a much nicer hotel down the road. At the Premier Inn at Oadby the room was spotless, nothing was too much trouble, plus it was much cheaper! I will only be using this hotel for my future stays.

Spent last night at the stage hotel as we were visiting the racecourse and were very pleased with our choice.
Hotel clean and tidy with lots of car parking.
Check in efficient even though several people arrived at the same time - our room was not the one that we booked but this was quickly resolved without any problems .
Can't comment on the bar and restaurant as we didn't use them but as everything else seemed to be clean, tidy and well run I have no doubt they would be the same.
Rooms were clean and fairly modern, no signs of wear and tear and the beds and betting were very comfortable.
Later on i the evening we were waiting in reception before heading out for the racecourse trying to decide between booking a taxi or trying the mile and a half walk when the manager overheard us and promptly offered to drive us there as he was on his way home. Thats what i call outstanding service and makes a refreshing change.
We will most certainly stay at this hotel when visiting Leicester or the racecourse again

The hotel was in good location only 5 mins drive from the city centre and motorway. Plus carparking. My room was really nice with flat screen tv and nice decor. The staff were very helpful and obliging. Would come back again.

I've stayed here a couple of times beofre. The resturant was awful - I was given stale bread (not buttered) with my starter and brown, slimy salad leaves. The main course had "complimentary" hair in. Breakfast was poorly presented and the first 6 plates on teh self service rack dirty. On hte positive side, bedrooms are fine - clean, modern and large. Remeber to take all your toileties, as they don't provide any. Noce, big white towels. Free wireless and easy location. Excellent reception staff

Really sorry to read your review as since our new GM david Greenwood and Head Chef Mikey Parrot started last autumn our restaurant has been going from strength to strength with really good feedback particularly on breakfast we we totally revamped.

Apologies, we obviously got it very wrong during your stay and will work harder to ensure we get it right first time, every time.

The only good experience of my stay was the ceremony, the room we were given complementry was the dirtiest and have never seen a wedding buffet served on a breakfast carasuel, must not forget the builder sandwiches not bad considering chef had gone sick, the DJ kept disappearing, just left tapes on, seems to me the hotel needs to be
updated and cleaned, according to manager what else can we expect , it would have been
nice being a wedding day, for the manager to at least say sorry, not well you did not pay for tthe nights stay. This day was booked nine mon ths in advance, all we had was one person looking after us, sorry manager said he was on sight, what can one say . If you
want a day to remember for thr right reason do not go to the Stage hotel, in Wigston
