We requested a quiet room when booking. Unbeknown to us, the hotel had a wedding on that night. They put us in a room directly above the very loud disco, which went on till 12.30 a.m. Repeated pleas to the night receptionist resulted in the music being turned up. Next morning, the charming manager David listened patiently to my complaint and apologised profusely. Our payment was refunded and a follow-up call offered a room upgrade should we return. What lovely people!

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. I'm pleased to hear that the problems you encountered during your stay were resolved swiftly and to your satisfaction. It is hotel policy to allocate rooms away from any potential disruption, particularly during events at the hotel, unfortunately on this occasion we have not picked up on this.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Regards,
Tom Bennett

What a brilliant stay. We stayed in room 213 which is an executive double looking out onto new walk. The superking bed was extremely comfortable and the room itself was spacious and well equipped. We could not fault this hotel and booked an extra night because we were so impressed. The breakfast was of a high standard also. I would recommend this hotel for a little bit of luxury in a good central location . Thank you for a fabulous stay

I stayed on a Thursday night, and didn't experience any noise issues as with other reviewers. However, upon entering my room I encountered a mysterious smell and I couldn't make out if it was BO, musty curtains, cheesy feet or eggy drains. But once the window was opened, it did clear. That aside, the hotel offers parking, lots of communal areas (including 2 bars), excellent customer service, and I really couldn't grumble for the money. I booked on Booking.com and paid £79 including breakfast. So much better than staying in a cheap and nasty chain, and ideal location for the town, etc and a lovely building.

Thank you for your feedback, we’re glad you enjoyed your stay with us. All feedback we receive is taken on board and actioned when necessary. It would be great if you could contact me directly me at tomb@belmonthotel.co.uk so I can look into the source of the smell that you described as this is not a standard we expect in any of our rooms.
Thank you again for your comments and we look forward to seeing you again at the Belmont.

We have been putting our out-of-town guests in The Belmont for the past 5 years and by and large most of them have been satisfied with it. So when we got married last month, we booked our whole wedding party into the Belmont (10 rooms).

We spent our first night together as a married couple in the Belmont’s Main Suite and were looking forward to having a good rest. Unfortunately we were awoken at 8am by the Belomont’s maintenance man using a leaf blower for the better part of an hour outside our windows. We thought this was shocking that the hotel would be so careless as to prevent their guests from sleeping. In speaking to our friends and family we learning this had happened a number of times over the week they were staying there.

The next day I wrote a letter to the manager explaining my frustration, and used the hotel’s website enquiry form to send it. I requested a response and didn’t get one.

There had been a few other issues we came up against in that week that seemed mostly related to staffing – not enough staff on to always answer the telephone and untrained staff unable to transfer calls to guests’ rooms. While I can understand that mistakes happen, I have no tolerance for complacent management who don’t bother to respond to guests’ issues. This is what truly separates the Belmont from a professional hotel.

In the past five years we have been responsible for 17 room bookings at that hotel. But now we will find another hotel to give our business to; one that takes a more hands-on approach.

Stayed for one night as we were in Leicester for a wedding. Didn't have time to check in before the wedding so it was great that the reception is managed 24hrs a day so we could check-in at 3am with no problems. The bed was so comfy and having one soft and one hard pillow to choose from you can select the perfect fit for you. The room was cosy, but the right size for an overnight stay, great shower and the bathroom even had a window. Clean and a good effort for decor for an old building that has been freshened up.
Most memorable aspect of my stay was the breakfast - a fry up to overcome any hangover and start you up for the day. Even though we arrived towards the end of breakfast there was everything still to choose from; tasty sausages, meaty bacon, black pudding, juices and good coffee. Staff were friendly and efficient. Much more charm than a soulless chain hotel, will definitely stay again.

I do agree that moving late in the night in the aisles of this hotel implies to do some noise. This can be boring or worse for some people. On the other hand the hotel is nice, clean, comfortable, and in a central position. Breakfast is of high quality, and the price is reasonable. I would suggest it to friends without doubts.
