I'll start this review by getting the only conceivable negative out of the way so I can talk about all the fantastic things this gem of a restaurant has to offer. Don't go expecting fine dining/tablecloths, it's a lot less formal than that. That's it. The positives are so overwhelming that I just have to give it a 5 out of 5... The welcome you receive (usually by the manager himself) is absolutely fantastic, it's a personal touch that few other restaurants offer. The whole place has that hard to describe "family run" feeling to it. Now the food - you start with a complimentary basket of bread and are served pickled vegetables and olives with dips. For starter I had the dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), which are absolutely delicious. For main I had the Kleftico (clay-roasted lamb shank), which is served with couscous and vegetables. It's literally cooked to perfection in what must be a tiny kitchen. The manager and waitresses will constantly attend to you, and you will almost certainly receive customary shots of a Greek fortified wine. One time the manager even left the bottle on our table, free of charge!

All in all a lovely restaurant with excellent service and amazing food. Would highly recommend.

We decided to visit Troodos with some friends based on recommendations based on quality of food. However when we walked in we were somewhat disappointed by how dated the place was and also by the fact that the floor was sticky. In truth I'm not sure quite how authentic the place is as I have never been to Cyprus but having been to other Greek Islands I can't help but think that this is what we expect it to look like.

The food although plentiful was at best average - like the curates egg, good in parts. The Mezes and dips were fine and the meats were OK - decently cooked but nothing special. The service whilst friendly was a bit hit and miss. The prices were OK as well and reasonable value.

Perhaps we made the mistake of coming out for dinner rather than going out for something to eat - we had dressed smartly for the evening but could just have easily dressed in jeans and a T Shirt. All that said we had a pleasant evening but felt we had let our friends down in the choice of restaurant.

By the way the photo shown at the top of the review isn't the restaurant in Glenfield.

I first visited this restaurant in 1986 and have been going back, on and off, ever since, usually when trying to explain to friends exactly what a Meze is. The food is good, although can be a rather anglicised version of a Cypriot Meze, but the souvlaki and kleftico are authentic enough! Keo beer flows freely, and there is a reasonable selection of Cyprus wines. The real attraction, though, is the genial host, Leon, who is quite happy to join you at your table for a glass or two of brandy or Commandaria (a sweet dessert wine) once the rush is over. If you really want some traditional music, book a table for one of his bouzouki nights, great fun and make sure you get a taxi home, as the wine flows freely.

Friendly owner helps to recreate a great Greek (well Cypriot really) atmosphere. I would have liked more Greek 'village' food but was very happy with what I had. Will visit again.

Warning - don't order the full meze unless you have a big appetite. Mini meze selections are good value (not cheap) but the food is great and plentiful . We went as a party of 6 and our bill including drinks and loads of food was £120. Go during the week and its not too busy.
