“Basic, clean and comfortable in a lovely location - but skip breakfast!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

Warm welcome on check-in. Room was clean but very basic. Décor was dreary and the bathroom fittings tired. However the bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep.
Breakfast was disappointing and not recommended. We were in a group of 6 and our breakfast order was wrong but not corrected. The bacon was burnt, the eggs hard and beans cold. Also the yoghurt had expired the day before.
This is in a lovely location and with a little investment in the rooms and better breakfast could have been a great weekend break.

Room 11. Bit dark and dreary, typical motel accommodation. Bed very comfortable and clean. Sliding door on the wardrobe was off the runners at the top though hopefully this will be repaired soon as we did report it. Decent kettle and plenty of coffee, tea, milk, sugar and biscuits. Traffic can be heard from this room though it wasn't a problem for us. The outside steps up could be a problem when carrying cases. Bathroom really needs updating and cleaning in the corners wouldn't go amiss. The wash basin is chipped, the bath looks stained, shower OK, toilet pan pretty awful. Good squirt of bleach may help though the surface looks damaged. Toilet roll holder is loose. Upside was nice white fluffy towels and a heated towel rail.
The help yourself breakfast starters were OK, juice, serials toast, jams etc. though would have liked some kind of fruit, grapefruit maybe. Full breakfast consisted of 1 sausage, 1 mushroom, 1 tomato and beans. I opted for scrambled egg which was very dry, no milk or butter had been added. Settled for beans on toast the 2nd day but asked for well done toast as the previous day it was more like warmed bread. I think the buffet could have been arranged to work more efficiently. They knew how many people were likely to be at breakfast and yet we had to ask for serial bowls and spoons. The dining room was clean and pleasant. The evenings were very busy and largely used by families so was very noisy on the Bank Holiday Monday. There is a lovely large wooden constructed, well fenced play area for children and a very large outside seating area adjacent. We were told we would have to wait about 50mins. The food was acceptable when it came. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We stayed here whilst visiting relatives but for the price may look for something else on another occasion.

First day: arrived 8pm, 3 light bulbs didn't work so I informed reception, after half hour they called saying sorry but they didn't have any replacements, said they would swap my room tomorrow.
Second day: they still hadn't bothered to go and buy bulbs, no mention of swapping rooms.
Toilet bowl was very stained, food was ok although poached egg under cooked and orange juice glasses the sight of shot glasses.
Positives: at least the bed was comfy.

Stayed here for one night as everywhere else in the area was full. My room was in a block across the car park and was tired and dated, with broken light fittings, ill fitting doors and windows and it was a bit dirty, it was also cold, until the heating came on at 2.30am, and then it was too hot.

Shower in bathroom was just about a trickle. Room and bathroom were a good size though.

Had a group booking in the restaurant, service was OK, staff were friendly, and food was typical pub Faye.

Breakfast was truly awful.

Room 2. Bath panel fallen off, sink enamel scratched, toilet won't flush properly, bath has brown stains. Lights are movement sensitive but don't work properly, beds very worn and soggy. Paintwork requires redoing Overall significantly worse than when I last visited 8 years ago.

Reasonable room for the money but definitely no frills. However, make sure you rise early for breakfast as kitchen shuts on a whim and not as advertised! We were ignored by the waitress in the restaurant and when pressed she said the kitchen had closed. This was in itself alarming given we arrived before the closed time advertised but even more surprising when our friends (who were not staying at the' hotel') arrived there 10 minutes AFTER us and were served breakfast????
Not a place I will return to, would rather pay for a taxi to somewhere else!!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere!!
