“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

Am just completing my 2 night stay here at College Court and have liked it so much I thought I would review it straight away. I love the 60's building and sympathetic modern décor. The food has been great and the service so very friendly. Only tiny niggle, the radiator hissed all night, so I had to turn it off. A great stay I will recommend it to others heading this way!

Dear Maddie,

Many thanks for your kind comments following (and during!) your stay with us at College Court. I'm sorry to hear that the radiator in your room proved a nuisance and I'll ask our maintenance team to check it is working correctly.

We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit to Leicester.

The old halls of residence, and it's odd layout of accommodation blocks looks slightly odd and you wonder why all the 50's style concrete is a listed building but it soon seduces you to its charm!

The staff in the lounge and reception were all exceptional.

The room, not huge but big enough nice comfy light pillows and duvets. The bed, double (king would of been nicer) was a little too firm; a minor complaint, I know. The room was immaculately clean as was the bathroom; which was lovely, although the water temperatures were always changing mid shower, disappointing as it was lovely and powerful. The towels were gorgeous, huge and fluffy.

Outside seating was nice and again all immaculate.

Breakfast was pretty standard
All in all a few glitches but we would go back.
We were at an event at the venue so cannot comment on location for town etc.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Many thanks for your review following your recent visit to College Court.

I'm sorry to hear that the water temperature in your shower was not constant and I will ask our maintenance team to look into this.

Our main buildings were previously a university Halls of Residence and as you say, are Grade II listed, which inevitably limits what we are able to do structurally to the buildings and naturally lends itself to retaining some feeling of life in a students halls of residence! This does however give College Court a great sense of history and we take much pride in working within such a unique environment.

We hope to welcome you again to College Court on your next visit to Leicester.

My son and I stayed at College Court in July 2014 for just one night as he was playing in a local football tournament. For what we wanted it was ideal. Room clean and spacious (I booked a suite which was only approx. £10 more). The restaurant felt like a partitioned boardroom and to be fair that's what it may have been previously. The food was average and not really worth the money. ( Around for fish and chips). The breakfast was a buffet and we were the first in so everything hot and fresh although the orange juice tasted like it was diluted.....it could have been a lot better.

Room Tip: go through the hotel website rather than booking.com etc and pay the extra for a suite.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Many thanks for your review following your recent stay with us at College Court. Before being renovated last year, College Court was in fact a University of Leicester student Halls of Residence and the restaurant was in fact the student restaurant/cafeteria.

I'm sorry to hear that you did not find your dining experience with us to be in line with expectations as we pride ourselves on offering a high quality food and dining experience for all of our guests, at a resonable price.

We hope to welcome you again on your next visit to Leicester.

Booked last minute as we wanted to visit relative in hospital. Satnav took us to location over the road which was bit odd. However, Hotel was very nearby. Well, we got a great reception from the staff, and we were given a room with a balcony which was a surprise. The hotel is very modern and really clean & tidy and well appointed. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. Small point, could do with extra pillows, although I think if we had asked we would have got them. We had a drink in the bar, which was quiet but again the staff were very friendly and efficient. The menu looked good and very reasonably priced, although we didn't eat as we had been out for a curry earlier. In the morning we went for breakfast which I have to say was brilliant, everything was laid out well and easy to get too, and our full English was enormous and of very high quality. We have stayed in some 4 star places recently, but their breakfasts were no where as good as College Courts. Well done Chef!
Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: The rooms are in 3 blocks, if you have trouble walking get room near the bar/ restarant

Well, let's do the negatives. Do double-check the location: Sat Nav - LE2 3TQ (as it does say somewhere on the website). If w/o car, then its a hike from the bus station (where the airport bus arrives) or even the rail. Also the TV had some gliches that I reported but were not fixed.

But that's it. Otherwise its a great location, near the excellent Craddock Arms, and the room was splendid, quiet and well set out. Nice outlook onto open grassland. Breakfast was good. Did not ty the bar (did I mention the Craddock Arms - why no entry in TA?)

Not busy but good value.

Many thanks for your review following your recent stay at College Court. I'm sorry to hear that your TV wasn't working correctly but also that it wasn't fixed after being reported faulty.

As you mentioned, both The Cradock Arms and nearby Queens Road offer some excellent dining options, however we also serve evening meals in our restaurant, bar and garden lounge for guests staying with us overnight, designed to suit all dietary reqirements and to a high dining standard.

The hotel was booked by a project partner. It was still brand new. The room was big enough and comfortable for a business stay. Big nice bathroom, tea facilities, ... The hotel and conference facilities are in fact renovated college facilities which adds to the style and the atmosphere.

We stayed here for one night in May as we were visiting friends in Leicester and the hotel wasn't too far from their house. The price was also a deciding factor in choosing this over other hotels in the area.

The hotel has been converted from old halls of residence so it isn't anything particularly spectacular to look at but I quite liked what they had done with the buildings.

Check in process was good and the young man on reception was polite and helpful.

Our room was a standard one and although it wasn't the biggest room it was sufficient for our needs. The bathroom was compact but the shower worked well.

Plenty of free parking available too which is something I always try and look for when booking a hotel.
