We enjoyed our first visit to The White Peacock a few weeks ago, we accompanied friends for a meal on a saturday lunchtime. When you arrive and walk through the doorway there is a nice bar area to the right hand side and the restaurant area is off to the left. We were early so we decided to go into the bar for a drink, there is a nice cocktail list as well as mocktails, wines and some decent ales if that's your thing. We felt quite comfortable in the surroundings, there is a really nice, relaxed vibe in the bar area and it is quite tastefully decorated. We were shown through to the restaurant and proceeded to have the 3 course lunch menu which was about £19 a head, the restaurant was about half full on a saturday lunchtime, there was still a nice atmosphere despite not being totally full. Starter of scallops was nice enough but I thought a bit flat and lacked a little seasoning. The lamb main course was lovely with great cous cous and tasted really nice with the walnuts, some whole and some crushed up into an apricot sauce. Chocolate fondant with ice cream was good and a fitting way to end the meal on a high. Throughout the meal the staff were very good too, we had a little chat with a couple of them, they seemed really friendly and they all did their job well. Overall I like the place and I would go back at some time in the future.

Went for Sunday dinner today and I so wanted to find somewhere worthy enough of special occasions and they did not disappoint! We had the Sunday lunch set menu, £19.95 for 2 courses & £23.95 for 3 courses, worth every penny. We had a mozzarella & tomato tart and a salmon starter - then both had a roast, one beef and one lamb which were both stunning. Couldn't manage a pudding however the choices looked nice. Service was impeccable, had a drink in the bar first which had a lovely atmosphere with live music playing in the background. So hope everybody supports this restaurant to make it last, it's been a long time coming having somewhere special like this in Leicester

Accompanied our neighbours to The White Peacock after they raved about the service and quality of food.

They provided feedback after their visit about the lack of 'bitter' available at the bar. This time we walked in and they had taken on-board the feedback and provided further ranges of drinks, including 'Doom Bar.' THAT, is customer service!

We went for the 6 course taster menu and each and every course got better and better. As someone who loves their food I was in heaven!

In the taxi on the way home we were all discussing which course was our favourite. They were all spectacular with the pork course and the lamb course proving particularly popular.

So someone please explain how a 110Kg bloke who is as close to being meatatarian as you can get, still talks about the sorbet! It was the best thing I have eaten in my life!

We will be back and will be bringing more and more people with us.

Amazing value, outstanding customer service and food worthy of a Michelin Star!

Food great, you will pay quite a bit but it is worth it.

We went on a recommendation and were not disappointed. The slight lack of ambiance (a Thursday lunchtime, only two other diners) was easily outweighed by the quality of the food. My wife had a terrine followed by slow cooked lamb and mine was scallops, mussels and cauliflower purée then slow cooked beef off the fixed price lunch menu. Beautifully presented and perfectly balanced flavours, though the portion sizes were too generous to allow for a pud. My wine was an excellent Primitivo and the bread is worth mentioning too. Leicester has deserved a restaurant like this for a long time. I hope it prospers. And did I mention white linen too?
