We enjoyed our first visit to The White Peacock a few weeks ago, we accompanied friends for a meal on a saturday lunchtime. When you arrive and walk through the doorway there is a nice bar area to the right hand side and the restaurant area is off to the left. We were early so we decided to go into the bar for a drink, there is a nice cocktail list as well as mocktails, wines and some decent ales if that's your thing. We felt quite comfortable in the surroundings, there is a really nice, relaxed vibe in the bar area and it is quite tastefully decorated. We were shown through to the restaurant and proceeded to have the 3 course lunch menu which was about £19 a head, the restaurant was about half full on a saturday lunchtime, there was still a nice atmosphere despite not being totally full. Starter of scallops was nice enough but I thought a bit flat and lacked a little seasoning. The lamb main course was lovely with great cous cous and tasted really nice with the walnuts, some whole and some crushed up into an apricot sauce. Chocolate fondant with ice cream was good and a fitting way to end the meal on a high. Throughout the meal the staff were very good too, we had a little chat with a couple of them, they seemed really friendly and they all did their job well. Overall I like the place and I would go back at some time in the future.
