I stayed here with a friend on a Saturday and Sunday night. Expecting an average pub/hotel we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were beyond friendly, except for one man, I believe a manager, seemed quite short tempered with the housekeeping staff. The housekeepers in question, two young women (I assume students with weekend jobs by the looks of their ages) were exceptionally pleasant, wishing myself and my friend a Good Morning and holding doors open for us when possible. I found the room clean and tidy, obviously they had taken care with the cleaning, and when we were present in the room on Sunday they asked us if we needed anything. They were particularly accommodating, and met our every need. We even heard them singing whilst doing the other rooms, adding unexpected, yet very welcome entertainment. They simply added an extra level of brilliance to a good trip - we left them a tip when we left on the Sunday, hopefully showing our gratitude. The bar staff were friendly, and you could tell the atmosphere among the staff was a good one, with brilliant relationships. Even the man behind the bar (another duty manager I assume) helped the cleaners when they appeared to have a problem. At breakfast they seemed to joke around with each other though they appeared short staffed. A genuinely jolly atmosphere. On the Saturday night the bar area was loud but comfortable, creating an amiable place to be. The food was excellent and the staff well beyond expectation. As I previously stated, a few times we saw staff rushing around as though there were not enough on shift - particularly between reception and the bar, and the housekeeping staff seemed short. I tip my hat to the two girls - they really created an excellent atmosphere beyond the external view of the pub giving a sense that they cared beyond appearances. Should you decide to go I would look out for these two girls, they stuck in my mind as an excellent addition to the staff. Also, the man behind the bar on Saturday, seemingly in charge, was excellent, creating banter and a good joking atmosphere among regulars and visitors alike.

My wife and I stayed overnight here, after attending a function in Leicester City centre. Taxi cost after midnight was £20.
Room was comfortable, bed a little too soft for me but that is so subjective as my wife loved it, almost took dynamite to get her out of it next morning.
Shower fine, good temp and pressure. Bottom of shower curtain needed cleaning. Remainder of bathroom clean, towels clean.
Pleased to find an excellent, powerful iron. The only drawbacks were that the ironing board wouldn't stay up without help and the iron still contained water from its last use, date unknown.

Breakfast was fine, however again some attention to detail would have been good. Cereal bowls and glasses were missing. Again the staff with their helpful pleasant attitude sorted this straight away.

Overall a 7/10 score. Pleasant staff but some attention to the small details needed.

Room Tip: Check with staff as some rooms overlook enclosed courtyard which appears to be smoking area for bar...

Just had a lovely weekend at this hotel the 2nd time we have stayed here, the room we had was number 1 very large and very clean although i would ask for a different room in a quieter part of the hotel as this one is right at the side of the smoking area.
on the friday night there was a tribute to the 80s on and that was very good, we ate in the hotel on both nights and we had the 2 for £9.95 excellent value, the breakfasts at this hotel are really good made to order and was served to us within minutes piping hot,
we will definitly be back to this hotel

Room Tip: ask for one away from smoking area

My husband and i stayed at this small B&B whilst attending a black tie event and we were more than pleased with the room, facilities and service.
I have dairy & wheat allergies, so I emailed ahead. they had every thing ready for my meal and could not have been more accommodating.
I highly recommend the venue, especially Hannah!

Room Tip: weddings & hen / stage events can be rowdy... but the sound didn't travel much when we went...

We stayed 2 nights with a discounted newspaper voucher
The room was a family room, (room 3) good size with a good sized bathroom ,
The room lighting is poor if you want to read , but nice and warm !!
The Bar & restaurant has oddly mixed furniture which is very strange for a three star hotel . The reception area was often unmanned .
The fire alarm was activated the first evening , being retired Health & Safety advisors we immediately evacuated the building , but alas no reception staff & no one to advise on what was happening ,
We had to return to the bar to find out it was a false activation caused in the kitchen by the cooking of sizzlers !!
And we also found a fire door propped open with a fire extinguisher !!
These are serious issues which require urgent attention .
The food was excellent & very good value .
On the Friday night A Motown Tribute concert was held so the bar & restaurant was packed , but it did not affect us noise wise in our room.
We enjoyed our stay .

Room Tip: Room 3 good size

group of family including elderly and children had pre booked and ordered meal on mothers day. Service was very slow, some had finished before others had their main meal. children served last and didnt have what had been preordered. Food was awful, hardly anything on plate, seemed like it had been pre cooked and left standing around. Cost us £250 and was a total waste of money. Would never eat there again.

We stayed two nights using a voucher from the local paper - £14.50pppn. The bar area is large and open, they had a good selection of hand-pull bitters for around £2.70 and even the "house choice" wine was only £8.99 a bottle.

We ate our evening meals there on both nights, unfortunately in fairness the service on the second night was extremely slow, it took 45 minutes for the starter to arrive and a further 45 minutes for the main course, I love desserts but gave up ordering one as a bad job. However the food was excellent when it arrived.

On the first evening there was a Phil Collins tribute which was pretty good, and not so loud that you couldn't have a conversation over the top of it.

The room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, the hotel is quiet at night despite its proximity to the M1, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. I'm not sure we would have stayed if we hadn't had the vouchers, the same room would have been £90pn without them, but even if you aren't staying there it's a very nice pub to eat and drink at.
