Yuck!! old, tired, dirty. noisy bed, cigarette burns in carpet, horrible smell of food - breakfast disappointing, so glad I ate for evening meal. The only good thing about this hotel was its location and the poached eggs !! toast was white plastic bread - staff totally disinterested and unfriendly NEVER AGAIN thankfully only stayed one night

Room Tip: Don't book this hotel

We booked a funeral wake at this hotel as it is local to us, before reading the reviews. However, they gave us very good service, and did exactly as we asked. The tables in the dining room were nicely laid out and the buffet food was freshly made. I accept that the hotel is a bit tired, and we didn't go into any of the bedrooms, but for what we wanted it was fine.

My wife and I stayed at the Stoneycroft hotel on the 10-03-2012. It has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The staff were lovely but that don't make a hotel. The room 'The honeymoon suit' was a dive. The bathroom was unclean. The bed was an Ikea special. The 60's alarm clock didnt stop tick tocking all night. The room was at the end of the hotel I had to carry my bags up and down 4 flights of stairs. For anybody who is looking at staying here DON'T. Dont eat here either its a dive.

Room Tip: Don't!

Must say this is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. As many of the other reviewers say the hotel is in dire near of redecoration and refurbishment.

When we arrived the receptionist didn't seem to know what she was doing. When she eventually found our booking my friend was put in a room that was already occupied! The receptionist then just removed to current occupants belongings.

Cardboard may have been tastier then the breakfast.

Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Pictures can be very deceiving. Stay for 1 night if you’re desperate for a room. Don't rely on the alarm clock to wake you up, I think it may have stopped working 15 years ago (its wall mounted and should’ve been removed back then).

Reception: presentation is very important and I don’t want to be impolite in anyway but hygiene is a very important factor. I believe a female member of staff perhaps worked a long hot shift and it wasn't pleasant for the guest.

Decoration: Long overdue, the shower room has no extractor fan and therefore has damp and mould growth to the sealant (see picture). The shower head has past its time (see picture).

Restaurant: I had battered fish with chips and peas, I ‘honestly’ had to batter the fish with the back of my knife as it was ‘so’ hard it would’ve broke a tooth, I could’ve used as a doorstop. The bar staff was friendly.

Other guest: A group of girls left after arriving back from a party because they would rather drive back home than stay.

Hygiene: Another guest was sick on the stairs. It stayed there for a while (see picture). The valances on the bottom of the single bed where dirty (see picture).

TV: Needs updating (see picture).

A male member of staff worked New Years night and News Years day absolutely a credit to the Motel. He worked very hard and always had a smile.

Hasn't seen a cleaner for years. Thick dust everywhere in rooms and communal areas. Makes your skin crawl.
