“Lovely weekend”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

Lovely weekend as part of a group. Large ensuite rooms, good tea/coffee tray in room. This is a retreat not a hotel so no TV, varied groups staying here plus couples. Good food, very pleasant and helpful staff. Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all in lovely surroundings.

I stayed at Launde for four nights at the late bank holiday in May.

Be aware this is not a hotel. Your room will not be serviced during your stay. The rooms are clean and good sized and have a courtesy tray which is well stocked and more supplies are available on the landing. Rooms do not have a TV and I didn't find one during my stay. Internet access is available through a wire in the bedrooms.

I found the evening meal good, but there is absolutely no choice at evening meal. The breakfast had a good supply of self service food and a cooked breakfast is available.

The Abbey is a stunning building, it is very remote and not particularly easy to find. It has its own walled garden. Services take place in the chapel in the morning and evening and there is no pressure to go to them.

I found my stay a bit of a lonely experience and whilst the accommodation is good I felt let down that it wasn't serviced.

Would I stay again......not sure, I can't there was anything really bad against the Abbey but it did have a degree of 'uncomfortableness' about it.

I went over to Stanford and visited Burghley House, now that's a house not to be missed.

Room Tip: Be prepared to be away from it all.

We had our wedding reception at Launde Abbey in the middle of June. As a wedding venue it is simply fantastic. We had a marquee in the grounds at the rear of the property and then Launde did the catering and provided the staff. Most of our guests were able to stay at there as they have 39 rooms available. The staff were incredible in the build up and on the day and the food was amazing, with many guests commenting that it was the best wedding food they have ever had. The grounds are gorgeous and were perfect for our wedding day photographs.

Thanks so much to everyone at Launde Abbey for making our day so special!

Me, my wife and our two young children stayed overnight in the early part of June 2013 and we weren't disappointed. The grounds were lovely, staff friendly and helpful and we were all made to feel welcome. Service was good, value for the room was good too and we all slept well. It's in the middle of nowhere so very peaceful - the main thing we heard was the sheep in the field close by. It's around a 15 minute drive from Rutland Water so an ideal place to stay if you plan on visiting there. Thanks for having us!

We stayed at Launde Abbey after our friends daughters wedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is stunning! Our room on the second floor had the most beautiful views of the grounds to the front of the Abbey. The room was clean and fresh. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice. We would love to stay again sometime and take time to stroll around the grounds, relax in the lounge and peruse the library. As wedding venue, I cannot think of anywhere more perfect for your special day.

Room Tip: Forward facing view is stunning.

Launde Abbey is one of those very special places where you can relax, reflect, experience the importance of silence and stillness in an ever-busy world. This is where time spent in prayer, time with God, enables me to simply remain in touch with God and allow him time to work with me. Also the surroundings are magnificent, the facilties are superb, the meals rather filling and the staff extremely well-coming.

This hotel is very easy to get to, just off the A47, but you feel like you're miles from anywhere.

This part Abbey part Manor house is nestled in a dell amongst rolling hills. It's very quiet and is wonderfully spiritual. The staff are very accommodating and the place feels homely. The space, the views and atmosphere are spot on; you'll love the relaxed atmosphere.

Room Tip: As to be in the main house - view from the front and back are wonderful. The stable block is comfo...
