Boutique hotel in a city center location. Stunning rooms, excellent service. Park in multistory car park next to the holiday Inn. The hotel will validate your ticket and you can park overnight for £5.

Great location for central Leicester with all its stores and restaurants, and taxi company right next door. Check in was simple. Cowshed bathroom products, fluffy robes and towels. Spacious room.
But:
Smelly lobby and hallways which they tried to mask with plug-in air fresheners.
Water bottles in the room had been topped up - the seals were already broken (yuk!)
Terrible lighting in bathroom and bedroom - couldn't see to put make up on and hubby couldn't see to shave.
Wooden floors looked cool but were freezing and noisy.
I wouldn't stay here again.

We found this hotel to be a little quirky with a great buzz and right were the action is ---clean and comfortable with good food- it's position is in Leicester is just great--staff friendly and helpful --just one little thing it would be nice if the web site told you that there was cheap parking at the Holiday Inn.

Will be back !!!

We stayed at maiyango for one night. The hotel was stylishly decorated throughout. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and elegantly presented by attentive and knowledgable staff. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

If you are checking into this hotel expecting to get more than a few hours sleep don't bother. The noise from the club a few doors down kept on going until 3am and the building next to our room had a heavy duty fan going on and off every 2.5 mins, it was like some kind of sleep torture. The hotel did knock £40 off the bill but £75 for a night of noise is still not good. When we arrived there was no one at reception so after 10 mins I phoned the hotel to tell them we were waiting to check in. The breakfast room is atmosphere less, rather strange and although breakfast was included you had to pay extra for anything cooked. It has the makings of something quite nice but fell rather short.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 2, very noisy.

I really enjoyed staying here and think they are doing a great thing but there are a couple of things which they need to sort.

Firstly it's a noisy area of the city and they need to get better soundproofing in the bedrooms plus wooden floors look lovely but don't help the general noise levels. Secondly they need to prepare better when they have big groups in like the hen party on Saturday night and ensure that they have the right amount of staff to look after everyone.

Having said that the room and the building and the food were fantastic. Overall could be great (and I hope will be) but if you don't get a good sleep then it's missing an important part of being a hotel.

This is one of those cases where I'd like to be able to give 3.5 circles.

At first glance the décor seems overwhelmingly brown, but once you adjust it's rather tastefully done. The custom-built furniture is especially nice, with restrained 'HM' branding. The size of the room is OK. Sadly, we didn't get the bath, but the bathroom has received some attention with a spacious walk-in shower and 'Cowshed' brand accessories.

Cleanliness was very good ; a few minor maintenance issues and a particularly bothersome toilet, but nothing serious. They've tried hard with the glazing, but as you'd expect in a city centre hotel, there are noise issues (partly from the bar upstairs, partly from the adjacent taxi rank). I didn't find it intolerable, but light sleepers are likely to find it rather noisy.

There were a few downsides ; the wifi reception is terrible and it never worked for either of us, the breakfast is very limited and disappointing.

The staff are friendly and helpful, but the check in process seemed a bit of a mystery to them, and check out was similarly confused, leaving me with well over £200 'held' on my card for a week - rather unnecessary given we'd paid for the room in advanced and not even glanced at the minibar.

Overall, I personally wouldn't consider it 'boutique', but it's perfectly pleasant, and is certainly nicer than the usual places I'd stay at. We paid £105 for our deluxe 'mid-tier' room, which is probably about right ; I'd doubt if the suite is worth the hefty premium.
