Stopped there a couple of times through work.
It's location is pretty good as it's in the city centre.
The rooms are very tastefully decorated and the Penthouse bar is very nice.
Nice breakfast.
You pay for what you get and I am glad the company was paying.
The restaurant is a bit fussy in the presentation of the food and the menu errs on the "fancy" side. Again it is relatively expensive.
Definitely a Special occasion sort of venue

One of my favourite hotels.
Efficient and friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble to sort out for you.
Boutique rooms, not to everyone's taste I am sure, but nicely furnished. Great bathroom products.
I am not sure why it doesn't get better reviews, frankly for the price it is excellent. Bad review-givers perhaps don't know how lucky they are. Light years ahead of equivalent priced hotels from the usual hotel chains.
Great restaurant with outstanding food and a good selection of quality drinks.
Only negative is sound proofing. Although the windows are double glazed quite a lot of street noise gets through. Noise from rooms above is also noticeable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back.

We stayed here this week for a night and to be honest it was just ok. We stayed in a suite of which there was a snug and we never used it it as the room was very spacious with seating in there to use. I found the room very dark as the decoration made it feel tired and needing updating. We too had a bed night sleep as the over the road building work was still going on and this woke us early in the morning, as well as being kept awake from people in the pub over the road shouting and screaming until early hours of the morning. The staff were friendly enough and the bar area on the top floor will make a lovely viewing area when the work is complete outside. We did eat at their restaurant and the food was gorgeous, we were well looked after and it was reasonably priced.

We stayed at the Maiyango this week while we did some events in the area, the hotel is well priced and the rooms are OK size wise, a bit dusty but OK for an overnighter..staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very centrally located and close all amenities but opposite is a massive building site which starts work at 07:00 in the morning, diggers...workmen shouting, tippers coming and going just a load of terrible noise... couple that to the students cheap night at the club just below the hotel which goes on until 03:00+ in the morning and it's a recipe for a crap nights sleep, in fact we were shattered when we left.
The hotel should have in the very least told us about both of these disturbances before we booked because it would have deterred us, we feel a bit mis-led to be honest.
We complained but it didn't do any good.

Room Tip: Ask for one AWAY from the building site

I've stayed in almost every hotel in Leicester through a regular work trip. They don't list on the third party booking sites, but the price is reasonable. It took me three years to know they existed because they only seem to book through their own site.

Odd entrance above the restaurant of the same name, with a lobby, bar and check in on the top floor. Staff were fine and friendly.

Design and comfort better than any of the chains or the independents in the city.

It's on the edge of the city centre, an easy walk to anywhere in town but 10-15 mins to the train station. There's some building work on the street and nearby but no early morning noise when I was there.

I'd happily go again and stay regularly if I didn't have to remember to search their site separately every time I'm looking for a room.

Couldn't fault the hotel as a wedding venue. However, although the rooms were spacious clean and comfortable we had an issue with the cold water in the bathroom which at best was lukewarm and at worst almost hot. It wasn't just our room either, the 3 booked by our party were the same. Also the amenities supposed to include bathrobes and slippers and in our room there was only 1 bathrobe and no slippers, which I could have done with as I kept going around the hotel in barefoot in the morning making sure everything was in place for my daughter's wedding. By the time I got ready I had filthy feet (hence the black flannel, sorry!) It was also a bit noisy at night, but only to be expected in town on a Saturday. Would definitely recommend as a wedding venue though.

Room Tip: Perhaps try the back of the hotel.

We stayed over at this hotel in May. The room was spacious, modern and immaculate. The staff were all so friendly and the customer service was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel. Great central location x
