“Best restaurant and hotel in Lincoln”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

The chef at the restaurant really knows how to cook and present food. We have spent over 7 days travelling all over England this week ,and I can say without a doubt that this meal was the best we have had for many a time. The taste was superb and I am pleased to say that the rooms were beautiful, but it was the food that we will remember for a long time to come. Someone said "to die for" and this is without doubt. This has to be tried to be believed. Words are not enough - go and enjoy. Good surroundings (clothes shops at top of hill are out of this world also). Well worth spending a day or so in this hotel/town of Lincoln.

My friend and I just spent one night here for a mini break in Lincoln. Very centrally located but if arriving on a Saturday bear in mind that the car parks nearby are going to be busy - we had to drive around for about half an hour looking for a space. Don't do what I did though and forget that the hotel will refund you a portion of your parking costs!

Really nicely decorated with decent quality furnishings and a lovely outside drinking/eating area both front and rear of the hotel. Just around the corner is the entrance to the Castle and Steep Hill a very short stroll away.

Breakfast was perfectly adequate and served with a smile!

This hotel has a busy nightlife scene in it's bar/rear outside area - we joined if for one drink but then decided to hit the hay as we had already had a busy day eating, drinking and shopping in Lincoln. Although there were many people (of all ages not just in their 20s) still enjoying themselves downstairs they did not disturb us one bit.

Some silly person decided to set the smoke alarm off at 2am which awoke most people, staff were very apologetic the next morning despite it being beyond their control, explaining it was probably a resident smoking in their room. Would most definitely stay here again - highly recommended!

Stayed here after a friend's wedding. The room was very comfortable, cute decor and clean.
The location is perfect, and as the bar downstairs was the last pub we visited, what a treat to only have to walk upstairs!
Breakfast the next day was lovely - freshly cooked to order, and very tasty.
The only downside was the parking - decent car park across the road, but could only pay until 8am.... So that was an early start to pop a new ticket on the window!
Overall, a lovely hotel.

I stayed here for 1 night with 3 friends for a wedding. We had two twin rooms on the first floor. Room 12 & room 14.
The hotel is very cute, clean and staff are friendly. The hotel has amazing outdoor space, a full restaurant/ cafe and bar.
It's perfect for staying together in groups and/ or with friends. Our room (room 12) was quite small and dark with only 1 window but my other friends room (room 14) was large and bright with a fireplace and large bathroom. As you would expect with any older establishment in UK, all rooms are set out differently so the only thing I would say is if you can get a chance to view rooms before you choose, that would be ideal.

Other than that, the hotel is excellent. Beds are comfy and breakfast is made to order so is fresh and tasty.
Good value for money too. I would recommend.

Arrived very tired, and booking in was very fuss free. The room was spacious, immaculately clean and very pleasantly furnished. The rump steak from the bar menu (also has a restaurant) was the best steak I've had for a long time. Overall, a very welcoming and well run place, and located just a few minutes walk from the cathedral.

As the sun gets low in the sky go and clamber on the castle embankment opposite, and drink in the incredible view of warm stone of the cathedral front - you won't be disappointed.
