Welcoming staff, who made us feel right at home. Rooms were lovely and we slept great!
The breakfast was fab, great selection and really relaxed. With the sites so close its a great little place to stop.
The hill is a bit steep, so wear your flats and definitely double check the route on a map as sat nav's get a bit confused and you need a good run up for the driveway, but it's not as difficult as some suggest.

Great, thanks for your nice review, and your right the drive is a little steep but its not that bad as some reviews have suggested. As I always say my neighbour of 82, she has no trouble but she has a lot of driving experience. I however would not take a run up lol but nice and easy in 1st gear. Hope to see you again. This house is in the most difficult site. A very steep hill that cannot be accessed from one direction. That seemed to be the way our sat nav wanted to take us.Even a phone call did not get us straight there. The driveway is a disaster. We watched as another car entered and lost their side mirror. The greeting from the manager was friendly and welcoming but we still had 3 floors to climb to our room. The cathedral is a short walk but after everything I was not leaving our room. Breakfast was OK. Sort of Continental but we were able to boil eggs. Rather arty place. Clean. Hardly slept worrying about getting out. Easier than coming in.

3/5? rooms, value, cleanliness ect REALLY? The house is on a wonderful site location 1/5 Location is defined by location to sites of interest and amenities which is 5/5. Always look at a map before setting out, never just rely on sat nav. If your sat nav says you have arrived you normally have arrived in middle of post code, a post code normally has no more than 10 houses sharing it. If still not able to locate best to call then rather than driving for 20 minutes before calling.
The Poplars is not suitable for senior citizens with major walking difficulties otherwise perfectly acceptable. We only have two sets of stairs not three en-suites are on first floor. The car you watched was in fact a minibus and it was a fog light he had mounted to low (wing mirror on side-fog light underneath) and in fact it was the sixth night he had stayed.

Lovely little bed and breakfast which is perfect for a nights stay. I was using the hotel for a second time, for staying in Lincoln due to working commitments.

My room was the plum room on the top floor of the lovely old Victorian house. I had a room with two single beds (not the most comfortable but OK for the night). It was a lovely vintage looking room, and shabby but it kind of goes with the whole look of it. Working TV in the room with sky and access to wifi- fab!

Simple breakfast options but enough. Cereals and yogurts, and an egg machine which will boil eggs for you.

Tea and coffee facilities in the bedroom which are lovely. Lots of nice teas to try and help yourself to milk from the fridge in the breakfast room.

Yes the drive way IS steep, but drive carefully and it really isn't a problem at all( owner of a Nissan micra).

The only part of the hotel I felt uncomfortable with was that with the shared bathroom, the door doesn't fit the frame so it won't close properly. It can still lock because its a hook and loop lock, but I had to fight with the door to make sure there wasn't a crack people could see into. The owners really should fix this it wouldn't be too hard a job I can't imagine.

Other than that, simple basic and lovely stay.

Nice cosy little room but very disappointed not to have a cooked breakfast. It was a very cold morning and would have really appreciated a full english as opposed to a bit of toast. I do think its expensive at £75 a night if a proper breakfast is not included. Friendly welcome and great location.

This little B&B is situated on the hillside in Lincoln and quite close to restaurants, cafés, shops and sights in this nice town. We walked from the railway station and it worked though the last part of the walk was rather steepy. The view from the breakfast room is stunning! Nice and friendly staff! The room was clean and nice but we shared bathroom with others on the same floor. It was not a problem since there are only a few rooms on the same floor. We recommend to pay a visit to the cathedral and the castle as well as the musuems in the town. The view from the castle is great too.

We stayed for one night as we we're going to see a show at the LPAC then meeting a friend for a night out after. The Poplars is in a great location, we came by train and Martin's directions made it easy to find, only took about 5 minutes to get into the centre of town and we had a lovely day checking out the owner's recommendations on the guide in the room.

The room itself was clean and really pretty, with nice old-fashioned furniture but also all handy mod cons like a hairdryer and kettle (with lovely selection of teas). The girl who greeted us told us we could get milk from the dining room but we just bought some from Tesco down the road, would of been good to have a couple of little UHT pots. We had an en-suite room and the bathroom was modern and very clean.

Breakfast was lovely, we'd been out late so had a lie in and it was nice not feeling rushed or given restricted times to come down. The egg machine was genius! Heike also let us leave our luggage in the laundry room after we checked out so we could make the most of a sunny day in Lincoln.

We'll definitely be coming again!

We stayed for one night thankfully, Although Richard was very nice, polite, and accommodating, the room we stayed in was in need of a massive overhaul. This accommodation was clearly student friendly. Worthy of mention was the on suit. It's location was excellent, but we will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: We didn't view any other rooms
