Very friendly helpful staff, especially Liam who helped me navigate my car down the very steep drive!
Room was really cute, charming vintage decor and very comfortable bed.
Breakfast was continental, plenty if choice. Speciality teas in the room was a nice touch.
Only small downside for me was the shower, water went everywhere except down the drain, floor was soaking.

We stayed 2 nights here... the indomitable Liam was looking after the place while the owners were away. Didn't think the decor was up to much.. some tlc needed. Eg window wouldn't stay open unless propped with something. Bed lumpy and duvets way too hot for summer. Dirty cups not taken away nor shared bathroom cleaned. Towels ancient. Breakfast is serve yourself but if you want any more than cereal or boiled egg on toast, forget it. On positive side, liam was attentive when he was around and helpful. Bit of arip off for £65 each in a shared room with no ensuite.

Hi Harrogate Gal ! Not sure what happened with bathroom normally deep cleaned once a day and checked throughout the day. As well as cereals and boiled eggs you can also find yoghurts a selection of bread for toasting, selection of fruit, jams, teas coffees ect ect.
Re price book direct as through some agents we put a premium price on a sat night to dissuade youngsters on a night out.

This is an older property run by a friendly small staff -no fuss/clean/nice en suite/good value. Breakfast is help yourself- fruit/cereals/toast/boiled eggs in a quirky dining room. Parking is on a steep drive but we didn't have a problem with it- and the location is so handy for the Cathedral.
Yes I will certainly stay at the Poplars again but anyone with mobility problems should take note of other reviews.

We stayed to visit the university which was a short walk away and then discovered that The Poplars was a perfect place to explore Lincoln being close to everything. Lovely rooms and great staff, we briefly saw the owners but the staff had everything in hand and the place ran like clockwork. Great help yourself breakfast was especially useful when we had an early start. loved the Orla Kiely duvet, speciality teas and fresh milk.

Room Tip: The rooms with shared bathroom are a real bargain

Top marks for this place after having the worst night ever in another Lincoln hotel, Liam was so helpful and rooms where spotlessly clean. Breakfast was friendly again and well suited our needs. We will be back again next year! Bath rooms where modem in this older style house, may be a problem for older people due to steep hill where house is located, but Lincoln is hills anyway!

This place was recommended by a boutique as an emergency because of an accident. "Liam" was faultless, very friendly and always happy to help and chat, a very cheerful young man who will go out of his way to do his best for us. The room and en suite were impeccably clean and fresh. We loved the Fabulous en suite with the lights in the floor! Although the towels were rather hard. Beds were so comfortable, we did not want to get up. It was a self service breakfast, no fuss and quirky crockery which was fun. Kids loved it! Only downfall is the driveway.... very steep to navigate and not great for larger cars. Heaven knows how they cope in the winter when its icy?!
We loved this place and would recommend to anyone! "Liam", Thank you so much, we will be back! :-) x

This B&B was OK for the price but had a few disappointing features. The driveway is all but impossible to navigate into and would be a nightmare for any large car or when the place is full. The towels were very old and tired and the dining room furniture whilst quirky for some was heavy to move and the table disposed to shake. However, our hosts were attentive, the rooms comfortable and the bathrooms clean and functional. The location was excellent for accessing the major features of the city. Thanks Martin, Heike and Liam.
