A very enjoyable weekend break to Lincoln, staying at the Lincoln Hotel. Car parking good. Location excellent. Easy to get to. Located in old town at top of hill !!
Breakfast was a little 'mass produced' and was the only down side. Bacon and sausages cold, slow toasting machine. We got some Port and Scotch pies from Elite Meats - really scrummy.

Room Tip: Ask for a Cathedral view

Thank you for your review, I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at The Lincoln Hotel over the weekend.

I will ensure that your comments are passed on to the staff concerned as they all work extremely hard to maintain high levels of customer service for all our guests. We stayed here for one night in a Cathedral View Balcony room. The reception was good with friendly staff, the room was very comfortable - decent bathroom, comfy bed, nice sofa bed for our son and a small balcony with a fantastic view out towards the Cathedral. We were in Lincoln to see family so didn't eat at the hotel except for breakfast which was good - not enough hot food was available but it was replenished very often so no-one appeared to be waiting for more than a couple of minutes at most.

The hotel has a very 1960's comprehensive school look to it but inside it is modern and well looked after. The wi-fi worked in our room with no problems.

Overall a comfortable, modern hotel at a reasonable rate - parking is included with the rate if you book direct and we were able to leave our car at the hotel after checking out while we went and looked around the fantastic Cathedral and Castle (currently being refurbished so only parts are open). The hotel is in a great location for all the main historical sites - but it is at the top of Steep Hill; which is exactly what it says it is, if you go out in the riverside area for food/drinks etc... then be prepared for a tough walk back up to the hotel (taxi would be about a fiver I guess).

I would recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest

Thank you for sharing your recent review on Tripadvisor.

I was very pleased to read that you had an enjoyable stay with us, especially as you were able to take in some of the best views of Lincoln Cathedral from your private balcony. These are certainly some of the best rooms in the hotel.

Although our building is quite old, we like to embrace the 1960’s features from when it was built; we think they add to its charm and character. However, we are constantly updating and refurbishing each room in turn to ensure that we continue to modernise our offer.

As for Steep Hill, it was awarded Britain’s Best Street in 2012 and certainly is an interesting talking point for all our visitors to Lincoln. There is a Walk ‘n’ Ride shuttle bus in operation for those visitors with walking difficulties or for anyone who is here to have a completely relaxing visit.

We do look forward to welcoming you and your family back to The Lincoln Hotel soon.

Yours sincerely

Wow, cannot praise this hotel enough! I planned an overnight stay for my husbands 30th Birthday and unfortunately there was a wedding reception happening in the evening in the function room. We had our 10 month old with us and the noise was loud, however we did not need to ask for a thing. The manager Nicola already had us another executive room with a gorgeous balcony and the noise was reduced dramatically. Both rooms we saw were spotless and spacious, very modern. We had a lovely view over the Cathedral. In the morning the shower was lovely and hot, breakfast was so busy but you felt that you were the only people there as the service was so high. The members of staff could not do enough for us especially Ashley who served us. I ordered smoked haddock and a poached egg from the chef and it was beautiful. So soft and tasty. The check in and out was very smooth and Holly was excellent and very efficient. It was a lovely surprise for Nicola to also remember us in the morning and check if everything was o.k with our stay, and to remember our daughter by name. Super customer service, time and management. Well done and we will definitely be returning soon.
Thanks for a super stay.

When we arrived, the room was cold and the staff sorted the heating straight away. They were friendly and patient. My starter was delicious salmon but a little too Nuevo cuisine. I had duck for mains and it was beautifully cooked, melt in the mouth. Vegetables steamed just how I like them. Dessert was too small figs with mascopone, delicious. If the portions were bigger I would give it 5 stars.

Apologies for the room not being warm enough upon your arrival, however I'm glad that the team could rectify this quickly and with little disruption. I will ensure that your comments are passed on to the staff concerned and I'll discuss with our Chef about the portion sizes.

I look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit.

Three good friends shared a weekend together at this hotel. We had joined rooms which meant we were together the whole weekend. Really comfy hotel, good breakfast and very friendly staff. Fabulous views of the cathedral, both in daylight and floodlit at night. Really good value and would recommend.

After staying at The Lincoln Hotel last week, i had to write a review to say what a fantastic time we had. Beautiful, modern room that was spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was delicious with a wide range of choices. We had a balcony room and the view of the cathedral was beautiful. Even though it is located next to a road the noise was very minimal and certainly caused no disruption.
The only criticism i could make would be a rather long wait to be served at the bar, even though we were the only people there and would be nice to have an option to have a cooked breakfast in the room, not just the continental option. Although this is only a personal preference as im not a morning person! :)
Certainly wouldn't let this stop us from booking again, in fact we are hoping to return next month.
