“Lots of good points”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Stayed here for two nights while visiting friends. Superb location on the Waterfront so a choice of bars, restaurants, coffee shops (and even a cinema) within a couple of minutes walk. Away from the town centre bustle but close to it and to the Cathedral & Castle. We had a ground floor room at the front of the Hotel and the noise insulation from outside was really good. Staff were very friendly, room & bathroom were excellent but as we simply used the hotel to sleep for two nights I can't comment on any other facilities.

I do have 2 minor quibbles (three, if you count the fact that IHG's own review site wouldn't let me type enough words to put these comments there!) and they are:

1. I booked using IHG points for one night and payment for the other, so ended up with two separate bookings. I booked by telephone when I realised this would happen so that I could obtain confirmation that we would have the same room for both nights. It was therefore slightly disconcerting when checking in to hear the words "I'll just check and see if you're in the same room for both nights ...."

2. There was an event on the Wharf on the Sunday which meant the car park would not be accessible and arrangements were made for guests to park their cars just a couple of minutes walk away (only required, of course, if you needed to use your vehicle that day). However, we found out about this from our friends, who live in Lincoln, and not from the hotel. There was information at Reception, A4 sheets laid flat on the desk, but we only noticed this after we had been standing there for a few minutes waiting to ask about the arrangements. I would have thought that with the sophisticated parking registration system in use that it would have been easy enough to get this information to every room that had a registered vehicle. We could also have been told on check-in, or at the time of booking.

I gather that events on the Wharf are not uncommon so it's not as if this was a one-off.

I must emphasise that these quibbles are minor and did not spoil our stay in any way. We would happily stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback on your stay at the Holiday Inn Lincoln.

I am pleased that you found the hotel to offer a good location and a quiet please to sleep.

To touch on your points, all separate booking will stay in the same room, however it appears that the wording used did leave you a little concerned and I apologise that this was the case.

We do also attempt to contact all residents to ensure that when our car park is not available they are aware of this, however it appears that we have not completed this thoroughly enough so will review this for the future.

Once again thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future should you choose to visit the city again and I trust we will make the stay perfect and iron out the little problems you experienced.

I've stayed at this hotel several nights a week for several months while working on a project for work and the staff have always been friendly, the rooms have always been clean (decor is a little dated but they have started modernising some of the rooms and is certainly not as dated as some hotels I've stayed in) - the hotel is in a great location for restaurants and close to town. Rooms at the front of the hotel overlook the waterfront which is pleasant but you can get noise from people walking past (especially drunk students). Reasonable wifi speed and good coverage throughout the hotel. Breakfast is typical buffet style for cooked items but the staff are particularly friendly and accommodating.

This is in a great location next to a renovated wharf with nightlife area right outside the door and a Starbucks in the lobby. Room was good: clean, spacious enough, quiet. Pain to find the place by car, even with SatNav, because you have to actually drive on the pedestrian area, and then pay extra for parking. Come by train!

Just back from a weekend at this hotel. Superb location directly next to Brayford Wharf. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby, but away from the bustle of the city centre. Staff were all very helpful. There was a scooter rally on the wharf front when we arrived, so had to park in a car park away from the hotel. We were allowed to park for free because it was a 2 minute walk away.
Only one downside would be you have to pay for Wifi, although you can get a code from reception if you are a guest. but if you are desperate to use the internet you would pay it anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay at the Holiday Inn Lincoln.

It is pleasing to read you found your stay to be a pleasant one and the staff to be helpful.

The Wi-Fi is chargeable as it offers a secure network as opposed to low band width hotspots that are often on offer, however members of IHG Rewards receive this complimentary, the scheme is free to join and the points never expire and can be used for a wide range of purposes.

Once again thank you for your feedback.

Stayed here in a standard room on the Friday night before Waddington Air Show so the hotel was pretty busy but didn't hear a thing outside the room. Location on the wharf is excellent with many bars and restaurants nearby. However, the non-chain restaurants tend to be some way away on or at the top of the steep hill up to the Castle/Cathedral. The room size is great, having stayed at what must be some of the smallest roomed Accor hotels in France the previous ten days it was great to have space. Downsides - the bathrooms are really dated but everything worked, it was very clean but there were a few gurgling noises from the toilet. Someone should have thought to start breakfast earlier than 7:30 as it quickly got very busy as everyone wanted to get away to the show. [The show's not on next year so one for the future]

Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback on your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Lincoln.

It is pleasing to read that found the rooms to be clean and spacious. I am sorry however, that you found the bathrooms to be a little tired.

As you mentioned the breakfast on the Saturday morning was rather busy very early on, this was noted and on the Sunday morning we did indeed start breakfast earlier. This is something we will also look at for future events in and around the city.

I trust we will see you in 2016 for the Air Show once their runway is completed.

Thank you once again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Holiday Inn Lincoln.

Checked in to hotel, reception staff were busy but not overly friendly. Arrive at room, bed runners were creased, no overhead light, damp on bathroom ceiling. Ran a bath, flushed toilet and sewage smelling water came up from the vent under the toilet. Called reception twice before they finally answered. Reported the issue and was told it was a common problem as they have an issue with their plumbing and was immediately offered another room.

Moved to a second room only to find the hairdryer in bathroom was partly missing, damp on bedroom ceiling, holes in sheets, more creased bed linen and generally tired looking room, bathroom had mould along bath. The bed squeaked all night each time I moved it it. I'd say this hotel has been living on the benefit if its location. It has certainly seen better days.

On a plus side, the breakfast was hot, lots and lots of choice and the young lady in the restaurant was incredibly friendly and helpful and a definite benefit for the hotel.

The Holiday Inn Express on the other side of the university is far better.

I will save a bit more next time and stay at the Double Tree which is far superior to this hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback on your recent stay with us.

I am sorry to read that you experienced a problem with the bedroom and bathroom products, as you have mentioned unfortunately our bathrooms are beginning to show their age. While you state you were told this is a common occurance I can assure you that it is not commonplace, however on occasion our plumbing can experienced problems like any other. I can also assure you that all matters such as this are fully investigated and we act upon them immediately.

I am however pleased to read that you enjoyed the breakfast offering, and the friendly helpful staff you encountered there.

It is our hope that you will give us an opportunity to serve you again.

Thank you once again for your feedback.

Nothing special but everything you need. Clean, quiet, very fast and efficient check in and check out. The one complaint would be the state of the bathroom. It is quite dated, but it is clean so I do not suppose it matters really.

Good value sleep over.
