My wife and I have just returned from a one night stay at the Queen in the West. We arrived just before noon and were warmly welcomed with a hot drink before being shown to our room (one of two available, ours being on the ground floor). The room was perfect for a couple and had 2 electric heaters.

We had a few reasonably priced drinks in the bar, which shows a variety of sports ,but unfortunately does not serve food. They did have live music on the night we stayed. The location is good being around a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Lincoln.

Finally, the breakfast.... This had to be the best breakfast we have had in a B&B. The full English which was 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, tomato, egg, mushrooms, beans, toast, hot drinks and juice. Served in a personal manner that you don't seem to get in the hotel chains. All in all a very good value for money evening away.

We stopped for a Saturday night this October.
It just has a couple of rooms. Ours on the ground floor was clean & unfussy with all the facilities you would expect from a hotel. As has been mentioned here before, the room has an exit to the pub garden, or if you don't fancy that, there is a door to the street.
It doesn't do food in the evening but there is plenty of choice nearby & if you pop into the pub in the evening you will find all the customers friendly.
After a comfortable night's sleep, no we weren't disturbed by smokers in the garden, you are treated to a large & tasty breakfast.
If you want a change from the normal sterile, production line hotel rooms & you like proper value for money then I would not hesitate to recommend this Queen.

We stayed in the ground floor room last weekend and had a great stay. The room is perfectly adequate with a little kettle, tea, coffee etc. A wall mounted tv, comfy bed and all very clean and tidy with little heaters which warm the room in no time at all.
Yes there is noise due to the pubs beer garden being right next door but we were in Lincoln for a night out with friends so didn't return to the room until about 12.30pm anyway, by which time it was just the stragglers! All was silent by 1am right through the night.
We were on the ground floor and so had our own little front door! This was fab! I would definitely recommend to book this room if you can as it means you do not have to walk through the pub at all.
My only little gripe was that the blind in the en suite bathroom only covers half the window. This can be a bit alkward when the beer garden which it is right outside is busy! I had to do my business in the dark!!
The breakfast was fab and service all round extremely friendly. This is a superb budget stay in central Lincoln, will definitely return.

I read the reviews before booking - most of which were quite positive. Naturally I read the poor reviews to see what had upset/outraged my fellow reviewers. And some of them do have a point....

Yes, the stairs to one of the rooms are quite narrow and steep and require a modicum of care when ascending/descending.
Yes, the en-suite bathroom isn't quite en-suite, it's next door to the bedroom. But we did have (any other guest would have) the entire first floor to ourselves so privacy wasn't an issue. And it is perhaps the biggest bathroom I have ever seen at a B&B....the same size or bigger than the bedroom!
Yes, it is possible to hear the world outside. Just the sounds of a normal residential street.

And just like other reviews have said, the rooms are clean and tidy - the glass shower screens I noticed were showroom perfect - not a smear in sight. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was good.

Another positive point that stuck out was the TV. Most B&B's and hotels provide a jumble of poorly tuned channels. The rooms have Freesat - so the choice is virtually unlimited.

Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Upstairs will be quieter than downstairs.

I'm staying here at the moment and was a little worried as I'm a female staying alone. There was no need as I am on the ground floor with my own ensuite and a door into the beer garden and a door onto the street so there's a choice of where you let yourself in.

Yes, it is noisy but after midnight there is no noise at all. I'm guessing that the property may be listed as there's no double glazing so you do hear everything and it's draughty but it adds to the charm and there's heaters in the room and bathroom which heat up really quickly.

There's lots of room in the ground floor room and places to store everything. Also included are tea making facilities, flat screen tv, satellite tv, wifi and towels. The breakfast is so huge that you won't need any lunch! This morning it came on an oval plate with toast, beans, tomatoes, bacon, Lincolnshire sausages, mushrooms and eggs but you can have whatever combination you want for breakfast. The breakfast is really good quality and is accompanied with juice, tea/coffee.

Another good thing about the pub is that the drinks are reasonably priced and there's lots to choose from plus the owners and staff are really friendly without being intrusive.

I will be booking again for future conferences and I've recommended the pub to fellow colleagues, thank you John and Amanda.

Checking Late Rooms for a cheap 4 day break we chose this small pub for value more than anything. On arrival we were surprised by the quaint old pub atmosphere. It was however a 15 minute walk from the railway station. The room was clean and tidy and the owner and staff were friendly and courteous. It is a nice locals' pub which you don't seem to find these days. We would definitely make a return visit.

On arriving it was a warm welcome and had been about all day touring and sight seeing, want to relax desperately.
Was shown to the room and it was clean but the stairs were a tight fit, so if you have a big suitcase unpack it in the beer garden. The room itself was large and ok and the window single glazed so you could hear all that went on in the street opposite, laid down in bed for a late afternoon nap before hitting the town for dinner and a few drinks.
Then it happened ! swearing outside, loud music boy racer cars with drain pipes for exhausts for 30mins, then it stopped and thought ok they're gone and I just started to drop off then.......across the road 2 doors to the left and on the first floor the RESIDENT DJ cranked up his Dub Step mixing decks and was doing a set. Which just took the biscuit.
Then we could hear shouting coming from the beer garden and evening worse when you were in the bathroom ( WHICH BY THE WAY IS NOT EN SUITE AS STATED ON THE BOOKING FORMS EITHER THAT OR YOU NEED TO PUT YOUR ON DOOR IN THROUGH THE WALL) and it turned out we had to share the bathroom too.
I'm sure the previous guests here were either deaf or absolutely waste by the time they went to bed that a nuclear blast wouldn't wake them.
So I suggest they update there room descriptions and get the windows sorted.
