I stayed for one night but I wish it had been a longer visit. The location is unbeatable, within the confines of the historic and pretty amazing Lincoln Cathedral the hotel itself is in the old Bishop's Place - hence the name. My room was in the annexe which was about 20 metes away from the side door of the main building, normally a bad sign except that the room was in a converted medieval chapel. The room was a bit small but very well equipped, very comfortable and with very modern fittings, I slept very well indeed. Breakfast was just huge and so good and just kept on coming!, The staff were so friendly and so helpful. As I checked out there were 5 ladies, yes 5, cleaning the reception area, the whole hotel is spotless. I strolled down a very steep hill, and clambered back up it, from the hotel to the CBD, it took 5 minutes to get into the city centre. Really can not say a single bad word about this place - a great stay .

Room Tip: Try the main building if possible

This is a lovely hotel right next to the cathedral with view over to city, an oasis of calm. It had a car park, which is important in Lincoln who's very greedy council impose the highest charges in Lincolnshire. We only had breakfast at the hotel during our stay, it was very good. Our room was a superior double, high quality, but we were not in the main building but in a converted church in the grounds. The room was a bit too small and lacked light, only have a small skylight window. Personally I don't like being in the 'annex' of any hotel. but maybe a downstairs room would have been better.

Room Tip: Avoid an upstairs room in the old church/chapel if you want a light airy room.

What a shame. A fantastic hotel, superb accommodation, perfectly placed. Reception was fantastic, but then...
The restaurant staff need training. For some inexplicable reason they nearly all wore ill fitting white cotton gloves, gave the impression they had some skin condition. The food was good-ish but just not up to standard. We wondered whether the chef was off on a Monday night. Over-cooked fish is a real disappointment. The cheeseboard had more trimmings than cheese.
Back to the hotel itself. Please stop people saying "Enjoy", whenever something is done. It sounds insincere and cheapens the whole experience.
We stayed in the Lodge. Great bed, superb, if wayward!!, shower. You're given an electronic beep for access- good system.

Room Tip: Can only comment on the Lodge, first class

It's just a wonderful hotel, great setting, right near town for shopping, sightseeing and eating. Had dinner in the Hotel one evening and it was top class. Never needed the car for three days as it was so handy. Staff, breakfast and room were great and suxh aa spiritual setting.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the Cathedral in the old part and it was great.

This hotel is part of the Bishops Palace and has lots of character indeed you would not know it was a hotel and one criticism is the lack of any signage to reception or dining room. We had th tower room which had its own sitting room up a flight of stone stairs with a lovely view of the cathedral and the bedroom was very spacious. Its location is what makes this appealing but obviously the proximity to the cathedral means a lot of noise from the bells. The staff were vey efficient and the breakfast was nice

This hotel was originally the Bishops Palace for the Bishop of Lincoln and dates back to medi-evil times.
My wife and myself were part of a 18 strong party of Jaguar Enthusiasts' that booked in for an overnight stay for the night of the 10th. of May.
Arriving in 9 cars at about 1.30pm we were quickly booked in and escorted to our rooms. 3 couples (including my wife and I) were accommodated in the annexe, which is a converted church in the rear garden of the hotel,
The room was fairly compact with en-suite shower room. Recently decorated, clean and comfortable.
We were booked in on a B&B basis. The breakfast was second to none. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and were able to answer various questions regarding the history of the hotel as well as pointing us in the right direction to local places of interest.
The only draw back is the car park is a little small.

We recently held our blessing at the Old Palace. It was truly a day to remember. Danielle, the events organiser, couldn't have been more helpful both before and on the day. Everything went so smoothly from drinks on arrival, the blessing in St Hugh's chapel, the canapés and Pimms after the blessing and the evening reception. The Garden Room where we held the reception looked beautiful, the food was wonderful, the service faultless. We cannot thank everyone enough for the service we received. We and most of our guests stayed in the Annexe where the rooms were fabulous followed by a great breakfast next morning. I would recommend the Old Palace for any special event you a planning. The Old Palace is in the most fantastic setting and would be the envy of any other wedding venue

Room Tip: Choose a room in the Annexe
