“Our local and we love it!”
Reviewed 29 April 2013 via mobile

Extremely lucky to call this place our local. Nestled just into the Bailgate, it's a stones throw from the Cathedral and is said to be Lincoln's oldest Inn.

It's bustling with an eclectic crowd of locals, students, Minster sixth formers, Cathedral staff, football fans and families. And they are all accommodated.
Always busy when football is on, yet never rowdy.
Saturday nights were always good fun, and we'd often start and finish our nights out there. Great atmosphere over the festive period, Christmas Market brings a good crowd, and its a lively place to see in Christmas and New Year.

This time of year is great, large beer garden that gets the sun all day long and well into the evening. Always full of families and large groups of friends. If you have a dog (we don't) or a child (we do), then it's perfect for either!
The owners are lovely, and all the bar staff friendly and never fail to strike up a chat.
The grub is also really good. The menu is a basic pub menu that you would come to expect, but with a much more homemade feel to it, with large portions and good quality food used.

All in all, we love The Eve!

“What a great little pub & dog friendly”
Reviewed 5 February 2013

A pub that doesn't pretend to be anything else.
After walking around Lincoln all day, we'd done 8 miles, we decided to go for lunch late afternoon. We needed somewhere were we could take our dog & we'd already tried another local pub. I found the Adam and Eve on a 'dog-friendly pubs' website. I went for the fish & chips, garlic bread & pint of beer, my wife had chesse & onion toasties, bowl of sald, bowl of chips & large diet coke. the whole lot came in under £20. We weren't expecting anything fantastic for the price but we were really surprised. OK, it's all pretty standard pub grub & the sort of ingredients you buy from companies like 3663 or Brakes (ok, not the toasties & salad bowl)- but there's more to it. everything that should be hot was hot. The garlic bread wasn't so hard you broke your teeth, the contents of the salad bowl were obviously freshly prepared, the fish was cooked just right (often these fish are done to death or underdone) and the chips - yummee. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside - just how they should be, and decent chips as well, not mangy french fries. I also got a nice thick slice of buttered bread -a real treat seeing as I'd not had a chip butty in ages.
The portions were just right, we both left feeling full.
As to the pub itself - the bar staff were friendly, smiling & cheerful (not an easy task as I imagine they'd been on their feet all day) & there were ony a few tables left in the area where dogs are allowed. We were there about 90 minutes, and in that time the pub really filled up. We left about 5pm, I noted a few other pubs we walked past were either deserted or had one or two people. the Adam & Eve is a popular place to go, and justifiably so.
We visited on Friday 1st Feb.
