Visit the David P.J. Ross Magna Carta Vault and see one of only four remaining original Magna Carta along side the Charter of the Forest. Immerse yourself in the lives of prisoners and their daily routines in the Victorian Prison and see the unique separate system chapel. 1000 years of history - where it happened.

“Fabulous City (and the Jousting was great!)”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Despite a couple of visits to the county of Lincolnshire, this was our first time in Lincoln City and we were very impressed. We managed to park the car near to Sincil Bank (I believe there is a football team that play there called "Lincoln City Nil" or something like that...) and walked through the bus station, toward the City Centre and encountered a fantastic shopping centre. Then there was the climb! No wonder they call it "Steep Hill" - that`s an understatement! When we reached the Castle, we were informed that most of it was closed for refurbishment, but the medieval Joust was going ahead, in spite of the slightly inclement weather. We were treated to an afternoon of great fun, the highlight of which was a group of heavily armoured blokes, on horseback, attempting to maim each other, with wooden lances! Joking aside, a lot of work and preparation must have been put in by the historical society who organised the event. We have a great deal of respect for people who are passionate about what they do and these folk certainly fit in to that category.

We look forward to visiting again, when the refurbishment is complete.

“A stunning city to visit”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

We have been to Lincoln twice now and will be going back again. The bus station is gruesome but once you leave this area and cross the river you see the real Lincoln. We have "walked" up steep hill on both occasions. We stop for coffe halfway up at a cafe that feels like you are in a cave. Above is the most marvelous supplier of teas and accessories I have ever seen. Carry on up the hill to the castle. We have visited this twice and had a different guide and tour both times. Both were extremely knowledgeable. Vic was particularly passionate archeologist. He is totally committed to the castle project. It is having a £20 million refurbishment scheme which will be finished nex year. All this on our doorstep, just a bus ride away. The entrance fee was £1.60 each. Very cheap.

“Great view from the walls”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

It's worth going in to walk around the walls - the views are amazing. The dungeon and prison are good for the ghoulish. Worth a visit. Also worth noting it is a great setting for the wonderful a Christmas Market

This space is being upgraded and should be worth visiting next year . As it is if there is not an event on you could probably save your money, 2015 sees all sorts of aditional activities and should be very interesting

“Lincoln Castle Disappointing/Closed for Refubishing”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Lincoln Castle was disappointing because most of it was closed for refurbishing. Be sure to check before you go to make sure it's fully open. That said, you can spend hours in Lincoln Cathedral just across the way, making your stay in Lincoln well worth the time.
