“Highly recommend this gem!”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

We stayed 1 night in a rooftop room, which we loved. The decor is lovely, rooms are clean, fresh & high quality, the location couldn't be better (near pubs, bars & shops), & everyone was welcoming, helpful & friendly.

Our room had WiFi, fluffy towels, a fridge, iron & ironing board, safe & decent hairdryer - couldn't ask for more. The only thing we thought was a net/voile at the window for privacy would be appreciated, then you wouldn't always have to have the blind down when in your room.

Lying in bed with the roof window open & listening to the Cathedral's bells ringing on Sunday morning was lovely.

The full English breakfast was tasty, as was lunch.

All in all we had a lovely stay. Would definitely come back & recommend to others.

A delightfully restful stay
Rooms are furnished in a welcoming contemporary style, with soft fluffy towels in the bathrooms and sumptuous mattress toppers for a cosy night's sleep
Very well situated for bars and restaurants in The Bailgate area
Only downside was a very lengthy wait for breakfast

Basically a nice place to stay but the underfloor heating in the room is set at a sweltering 25 degrees and following the instructions to alter it does not work. There is no wifi in the Garden Room and calls to the front desk during office hours and to the out of hours mobile number have gone unanswered.

Dear Jon,

Thank you for you booking with us, we appreciate your generally positive comments but sorry you experienced some problems with the under floor heating and wifi.

All our rooms under floor heating are individually controllable for personal comfort, which in this instance hasn't been successful. We have simplified the instructions to alter the heating in each room and re-set the free wi-fi. We hope our discount goes some way to making amends and look forward to seeing you again next time you are in Lincoln.

Best regards, Richard

My parter and I recently stayed in the Garden Room and I can't recommend it highly enough. The furnishings were beautiful with great attention to detail. The location is perfect if you want to take in the best wine bars and restaurants Lincoln has to offer and the welcome you get from the team is exactly what you would expect from a 5* Hotel. We'll definately be staying again.

We have just returned from two nights at this newly and rather beautifully converted building half way up one of the steepest hills I have ever encountered but slap bang in middle of the most picturesque part of this delightful city. Our room, Treetops, was situated in the roof space, access being up the side of the building and then via a small terrace through our own front door. The room was a decent size, stylishly decorated in silver/grey/beige but nevertheless felt cosy as a vicious east wind swept around us. Lovely comfy bed, good storage space, sofa, small but well organised bathroom and good lighting all round. The cafe downstairs is a delightful space, the staff young and very pleasant but seem to be still learning the ropes. Unusually for an hotel there is no breakfast buffet so everything has to be brought to you. This, or simple disorganisation, made for rather slow service on both mornings. particularly Sunday. Food was good quality when it arrived and hurrah for mugs rather than silly little cups to serve tea in. All in all a very good experience. We would certainly come again.

Room Tip: Only downside to rooms on the roof is that you have to go outside in order to get to the cafe or off...

My husband and I have just returned from a nights stay at this fantastic hotel. The room was excellent-it has been furnished to an extremely high and luxurious standard. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were treated to a delicious, relaxing breakfast in the coffee bar. The hotel is in an ideal location meaning that you can easily visit the old sights of Lincoln or meander down steep hill and explore the shopping areas. We would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return ourselves !

What a breath of fresh air! I totally agree with all the positive comments. The location certainly has it's ups and downs, but well worth the challenge to benefit from the pubs, restaurants, Cathedral and castle just minutes walk away.
The Rest is beautifully decorated, very comfortable with great attention paid to every detail. The staff are amongst the best I've ever experienced. They embrace their customers in a rare professional warmth. The balance is perfect, not overstepping the mark but friendly and accommodating. If you are thinking of visiting the lovely city of Lincoln this is the place you want to stay.

Room Tip: There isn't a bad choice of room, just different and great value.
