Owner description: Situated in the heart of historic Lincoln, The Collection brings together Lincoln's archaeology museum and the Usher Gallery in one fantastic visitor centre. The Collection includes a wealth of artefacts from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, Roman, Saxon, Viking and Medieval eras as well as fine, decorative and contemporary visual arts. Now Open.....Play at The Collection is a free activity centre, bright and engaging; there's lots for younger children to do and a safe play space for babies. There is also plenty for older children to do in the museum including interactives, mosaic making and trails to follow. Enjoy our newly refurbished cafe run by Lincoln's premier tea and coffee specialists, Stokes of Lincoln.

Too much to mention on the good side. Interesting for adults and children with plenty of activities to have a go at. Would probably go again but ring ahead to make sure no school trips!

I only had time to visit the museum bit (The Collection), but it was great. It's very small, the main bit in one large room, but you could easily spend a while in there looking at all the exhibits, of which there are many from throughout history.. This should definitely be on anyone's to-do list for a visit to Lincoln. And best of all it's free; you can't say fairer than that!

Well worth the visit - something for everybody. Even an area for children - and of course free of charge.

Great museum, well laid out and great for kids. Makes you think about the layers of archeology that make up Lincoln I liked the concrete architecture

This again is free and is worth a visit, there is a lot to see although some of the exhibits weren't to my taste, however a lot were and as someone else pointed out the building is a lovely thing in itself. There were lots of grandfather clocks in the building and I was disappointed that not one of them was ticking!! I didn't know there was a cafe until I read the previous reviews so it can't be well signposted or it was closed when we were there, however there are so many nice places to eat in uphill Lincoln that it doesn't really matter.
