“Very Handy”

Just got back. Really good base for a stay in Lincoln. May be a hill climb too far for elder or disabled City explorers. But it is only stones throw from the Cathedral, castle, tourist shops and restaurants. The main shops are accessible via a pretty steep hill. Very friendly and helpful staff. Better than average breakfast. Get there as early as you can to your book in time for best chance of a free car parking space. There is one for every room, but if there are diners in the restaurant you could end up in the paid car park over the road.

Room Tip: If you prefer a bath to a shower make sure you ask. Some rooms have a walk in shower.

Calling on spec a couple of hours before we booked the junior suite - a stunning room overlooking the cathedral and castle and since it was nearly 8pm by the time we arrived, decided for dinner. The menu ws fresh and varied and tasty, and the staff helpful and courteous. The whole experience was faultless with the owner even moving his car to offer us a safe parking space

One day we will return to Lincoln and this is where we will stay!

Room Tip: The room we had (it is called the Tennyson room I think) was stunning with great views

We received a warm welcome and continued to be impressed throughout our two-day stay.

The location itself, close to the cathedral and castle, is fantastic.

Our room (in the courtyard) was tasteful, clean and well proportioned. The bed was very comfortable and the shower room was luxurious. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. Overall the place seemed well managed and very presentable.

Plenty of choice for breakfast and good quality - being cooked to order. (We would have liked more veggie options on the evening menu. However, this is a very minor point.)

Happy to recommend and return.

Spent a few days in Lincoln, mainly to visit the Cathedral and Castle. Thoroughly enjoyed both, although the Castle was undergoing refurbishment so was disappointed that we could not see the whole site. However, will consider coming back next year for it's anniversary. Stayed at the Castle Hotel for the first time. Will definitely stay here again when we re-visit Lincoln. Excellent hotel, friendly staff, rooms tastefully decorated and the breakfast is a good starter for your day.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the Cathedral - its illuminated at night and certainly looks the part.

We have just spent two nights in the Castle Hotel (28/29 June). There is only one word to sum up our experience - WONDERFUL. We would recommend it to anyone.

On arrival the car parking spaces were full. The lady on reception solved the problem in less than a minute by giving us a Residents' parking permit to use, until a space became available.

We stayed in the Bader room which was clean, furnished in a modern style and had a perfect view of Lincoln Castle.

The hotel is ideally situated for seeing Lincoln; Lincoln Castle is two minutes and Lincoln Cathedral three minutes walk away.

On the first evening we ate on the Reform Restaurant - it was so good we ate there on the second night.

The staff were professional, friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: We liked the Bader room

We stayed just one night but thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The hotel has been beautifully and tastefully refurbished to a high standard in a contemporary style. The location is excellent being right in the old town, close to the cathedral and castle.
Our room was lovely, overlooking the castle it was spotlessly clean and we slept well in the comfortable bed. We were concerned that the terrace bar opposite would be noisy but we needn't have worried. The first thing we heard after retiring was at 7am the next morning when the cathedral bells chimed, which was a very pleasing awakening. They obviously switch them off during the night.
The staff were very attentive, polite and helpful in every way.
We didn't dine in the hotel because although it is clear that they cater for the more discerning diner, there was nothing vegan on the menu and virtually nothing vegetarian. However, we didn't notify the hotel beforehand and I am confident that they would accommodate different diets. Next time we stay, we will let them know beforehand.
A very well run small independently owned hotel which in our opinion offers something that the large chains can't - the personal touch. Highly recommended

Room Tip: Ask for a castle view
