Not much left of it but well worth a quick visit, gives you a good idea of the splendor once available. Great views over the city and a good place to start your tour of this marvalous cathedral quarter.

“Use your imagination”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

In all honesty there is not a lot to see, but the narration on the voice guided tour was great. What a privileged existence these ecclesiastical people had.

“Medieval ruins in the heart of the city”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

Tucked out of the way to one side of the cathedral it's easy to miss the palace. The bishop has a somewhat smaller house on the edge of the site, so what we visited was largely a picturesque ruin.

What is left is a set of gardens and terraces, with the foundations of the original buildings and a huge vaulted undercroft.and one incomplete intact tower.

The view of the city are wonderful and who would ave expected a vineyard n the centre of an English Midlands city?

You can borrow an audio guide from the entrance booth, and there is also a modest shop on the site with English Heritage souvenirs and some interesting fruit wines you can sample, alas not from the palace vineyard itself.

“Worth a little time”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

As English Heritage members we decided to take a look whilst visiting Lincoln. We took an audio guide and I would strongly recommend this as most of this site is in ruins so listening to the commentary really made the place come alive. We were the only people on the site so we strolled around at leisure and spent over an hour looking at what is a very compact but unusual and interesting site. Recommend.

“Well Hidden But Worth Finding”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Not the largest of English Heritage properties but well worth seeking out. Not at all suitable for anyone who can't cope with lots of steps and uneven surfaces - after all it WAS built long before DDA came into being! Only downside is lack of visual interpretation panels so taking the free audio guide is a must.
