“Fantastic Staff”
Reviewed 6 December 2013

I recently visited the UK (I am originally from the area but have lived in the USA for many years). One of the hotels that I stayed at was the Staybridge Suites Liverpool for three nights. It has a good location on the Waterfront and my room was spacious and very clean. I overlooked the "Wheel", the Echo Arena and a partial view of the river.
Danielle, "Dani", on the front desk was fantastic. She was a typical bubbly Liverpool girl, very friendly and very helpful. She went out of her way to make sure that everything was OK. I enjoyed the free breakfasts each morning, plenty of variety and good quality. On the Thursday morning she wished me "Happy Thanksgiving" (not a holiday in Europe). How did she know that?
I will definitely stay there again if I am ever in the area.

Hi lesbooth_13 Thank you so much for taking so much time out to write such a great review.

We are so glad that you enjoyed our accommodations here! Our main goal here at the Staybridge Suites is to make our guests feel comfortable, and make this hotel their home away from home. One way we do this is by getting to know our guests individually, and hopefully, by name. We thank you again for writing such a great review for this hotel, our staff & Dani would love to have you back again sometime soon.

We would like to take this opportunity in wishing you a very Happy Christmas & All the best for 2014.

we stayed last saturday in november, fro a concert at the echo arena, and for that it is perfect, literally a short walk across from the arena. you park in the multi storey right next door which is nice and close, and right at the back of albert dock so there are shops, cafe's etc close by. the room was a decent size and had a kitchenette, which being there just one night we didn't use but would be handy for longer stays. the shower was a good size as well. the lounge area was nice and relaxed and you could help yourself to free tea and coffee. the breakfast in the morning was a help yourself selection and was fine for what we wanted. all in all a nice stay and would definitely stay here again!

Just to the side of the Albert Dock this hotel is in a great location. Private parking available at £10 which isn't too bad for city centre. Well appointed comfortable rooms and all of the staff we met were friendly. The free breakfast is ok and it's good that you can go down with a tray and take breakfast back to your room. Well worth considering for your stay in Liverpool.

Adjacent to Echo Arena and nearby restaurants. Easy parking in nearby car park which with hotel discount only cost £3-25 overnight. The room has kitchen area, nice shower room, sofa and comfy bed. Our room overlooked the square and the Ferris wheel. Great for going to nearby event. Breakfast was informal but good quality and ok choices on self serve basis. Would recommend.

I've stayed at the Staybridge Apartments Liverpool up to a dozen times a year for the last few years. I am disabled and find the whole experience of staying there totally enjoyable. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, I have come to know most of them by name and they know me similarly, but it's always been that way since I started using the hotel. I would like to name several staff personally...Lucy, Danni, Adam and Steve who are absolute stars.
It is a perfect place for business trips, to meet up with family and friends and for solo trips.
Breakfast is marginally limited but does offer hot dishes, fruits cereals, cakes yoghurts and croissants. Fruit juices, tea, coffee and water is also available. Complementary tea and coffee is available 24/7 and if you stay mid-week (Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday) there is also complementary wine and beer for an hour or so in the evening.
Housekeeping is very efficient and takes place seven days a week...unlike some (more expensive) hotels I've used. Prices for this hotel are very competitive. There is a gym for those who like to keep fit plus a laundry service.
In terms of location, it could hardly be more convenient for shopping, eating and entertainment in the city. Albert Dock and everything it has to offer is little more than 150 metres from the hotel, The Echo Arena no more than 50 metres from the rear of the hotel and Liverpool One (shopping centre) a ten minute walk away and the world-famous Cavern Club just off one of the main shopping streets. The equally-famous Liver Buildings and its two other gorgeous water-front 'Graces' are on the doorstep as is the Mersey Ferry...an entertaining hour-and- a-half's trip up the river.
A short taxi-ride away or a reasonable walk will take you in one direction to the two impressive cathedrals; one the modernistic Metropolitan and the other the grand Anglican each at either end of a street called Hope. Take a different route and some of Liverpool's finest public buildings, St George's Hall, The Liverpool Museum, The William Brown Library and (the former National Gallery of the North), The Walker Art Gallery are to be found.

So the positives - modern, clean, small kitchen so you can be self-catering if you want. Room has everything you need for a nice stay. Best thing about the place being the location which is next to the Albert dock and the Echo arena.

The not so positives - bed was horrendous - far too hard, invest in some decent mattresses please! Price was expensive for what is only really a 3 star hotel in terms of facilities (no pool, terrible Wi-Fi, small gym, no restaurant other than the self service breakfast). Staff pleasant enough but didn't really go out of their way to go that extra mile.

Glad we stayed here but for the money we'd stay somewhere else next time.

Dear Gareth
First of all, thank you very much for taking time to write your review.
I am glad to hear that you find our hotel clean and modern, and that the location was also good for you.
As you quite rightly explain on your review that, yes our rooms are all fully equipped suites as we want to give our customers similar comfort that they will find at their rooms. The way we are able to provide you with such a large suites (double the size comparing to some hotel rooms) and a fully fitted kitchen, is by not offering full restaurant but by offering a pantry so that, you can be in your room and enjoy food or drink at your own leisure.

You might have also noted that our breakfast and cup to bean coffee is complimentary, most hotels will charge you in the region of £10-£15 for a breakfast and at least £2 to £3 per cup of Americano or Cappuccino which we provide these services complimentary to all of our guests.

In order to be able to provide superior rooms and complimentary tea coffee all day along with complimentary breakfast every morning there are certain trade offs, and in our case we do not have a swimming pool or a restaurant but we do have so many other facilities that the other hotels cannot provide you with.We also receive regular visits from governing bodies and year after year we are granted our 4 star status due to our offering and service.

I am also very surprised to hear that you did not enjoy the mattress. Our mattresses are provided by Hypnos, which you might recognize this brand as it is an award winning, and royally appointed British bed maker. Our mattresses are pocket-spring hand tufted mattress, supported on a firm edge , strung to base. This is one of the highest spec mattress you can find on the market. To this date most of our guests called us after returning back to their homes as they wanted to buy the same mattress. However, I truly appreciate that every persons' personal choice of the firmness of the mattress are different, and i am truly upset that you did not enjoy our mattress.

Should you come back to Liverpool in the near future, i would like to handle your booking personally. When booking please contact me on the following email address and i can then take care of your visit personally.

Stayed here for one night in November 2013. The hotel is in a nice location on the renovated docks development, and is within a few minutes walk of a nice selection of restaurants, a convention centre, and the Liverpool arena. The rear entrance of the hotel (which is much more conveniently located than the main entrance) is strange as it takes you into a lounge area, with very little signage directing you to the actual lobby. The lobby is small, but quite nice and welcoming, and has a small shop and pantry. Staff seemed friendly enough.

The room I was allocated (on the 4th floor) was fine. A little bit of a view, a small kitchen area, bed (not the thickest mattress in the world, meaning it was hard), a sofa (which I think turned into a sofa bed) and a shower room. Overall, the hotel feels modern, but worryingly a few minor cracks were showing in a few areas, and I had a few criticisms:

- Wifi (free) was painfully slow and unusable
- An indistinguishable smell in the room. I appreciate this may be from prior use of the kitchen
- Very loud doors. My neighbour seemed to be slamming they door every few minutes at 8am on a Sunday morning. I also appreciate this isn’t the hotels fault, but it kept me awake
- Sink in the shower room would not drain

For the price paid, I think the hotel is overpriced, but I understand this was due to a number of events happening in Liverpool. For the price paid, I would not stay here again. If the rate was much lower, I would certainly stay here again.
