“Lovely Place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

We stayed for 3 nights in his hotel (redeveloped from a warehouse) on a holiday break. Quiet room with a great view over the dock. A good price and everything you'd expect. Possible a few more teabags/coffee sachets in the room would be good but readily offered when asked. Very helpful staff on the three/four occasions we had a query. Breakfast was a continental/English mix with scrambled egg, baked beans and sausage the English side. The toaster needs attention as each slice needed two runs to just lightly brown it. An unusual building with very wide corridors and situated right at the heart of the Albert Dock in easy walking distance of the Tate Gallery, Museum of Liverpool, Maritime Museum, The Beatles Story, giant Ferris wheel, Echo arena and the shops of Liverpool 1. WiFi is free but on the 4th floor a very poor signal. However, if you join the hotel's discount booking card scheme (free) you get access to their fast WiFi. Or you can pay £5 for 24 hour access. On our next visit to Liverpool we'd stay here again.

Pleased to hear that you would stay with us again and glad to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay with us. Thank you for your comments, in particular those about the WiFi. This is certainly something which I will look into as we usually have excellent signal through the building.

We stayed here twice in within a month. Decent value, good location - great view from the room, but I am afraid to say the staff needed to smile and engage a bit more. I am from Liverpool and so was a little embarrassed at times when the normally friendly Liverpool nature did not come across from the staff. I stay in all sorts of accommodation around the world and I know how a good welcome feels, I know how it feels to ask a "stupid" question and how good staff don't make you feel stupid. It almost felt like we were a bit of an inconvenience here. A shame really. I would return as I know the idiosyncrasies of the hotel now (access, car park etc) and think the location and room rate are very good. I would just prefer to see some real Scouse smiles next time please!

I stayed here with my hen party and what can I say about the snotty arrogant unhelpful girl on reception, what a horrible attitude! I wouldn't speak to my dog the way she spoke to me, the rooms were clean and tidy and good location. Breakfast was very poor with only 3 hot items to chose from? Very disappointed. I wouldn't stay again. Very bad attitude towards paying customers!

I stayed just 1 night but I have been amazed at how and where the Holiday Inn is set. With the backdrops of the Liverpool docks the modern, simple rooms give you a feeling of a great nights sleep. The breakfast is something and I have been dreaming of for a long time, it sure lived up to its reputation.

Stayed just 1 night on an away day. Lovely room though corridors were a bit hot, ok though after we had opened the bedroom window .Comfy bed, good facilities, friendly helpful staff. It was nice to get a 'Good morning'. Enjoyed breakfast better than we thought we would, appreciated the orange segments, as we who are on statins can not have grapefruit. Breakfast staff were helpful too. The tables were full of used pots when we arrived for breakfast, but guests had not removed their trays etc. to the trolleys as asked (normal practice in this sort of accommodation and not a lot to ask for). Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We were told we could ask for a specific view.

Stayed the week of the Giants visit. Location fab but quite noisy through the night, ask for an inner harbour room for a better sleep. Lovely spacious room, faultlessly clean. But, the lighting left a bit to be desired, needed extra lighting over the mirror in the bedroom and brighter light in the bathroom, being an older female, struggled to see properly to put make up on! The breakfast is very very basic, I have stayed in plenty of hotels for the same price and had far superior breakfasts.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the Eye, very noisy through the night.

Visit with three generations of the same family. Giants weekend so excellent location with three young children. Hotel itself clean basic and could easily achieve higher rating.

Problems from the start at check in staff blunt and unsmiling . The person who booked the rooms was in the last group to arrive. We needed a card to authorise the booking. We were told that without a card there would be no access to the rooms. Whilst understanding this policy being told this in a pleasant way would make all the difference.

Family room itself on the small side but nice views of the wheel.

Heat very overpowering all weekend and your room should be you sanctuary. Hotter in the room than outside! Later at night the noise whilst windows open kept the children awake. We asked reception for a fan to be told they were not sure they had any but would come back to us. No return phone from Lee. After an hour we rang back to be told they had none. Spent the rest of the night cooling our children with damp towels. To the manager if you do not have air conditioning and given we are not the first to raise this you need a fan per room. Staff training also required about reverting to customers when queries are raised.

Heat so bad three of our group went home at midnight with their baby.

Breakfast pretty basic but first and only smile from staff member when we took our dirty tray and dishes back as requested.

Still waiting for the promised email in response to our complaint....

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback and raising your concerns to reception on check out on Sunday morning. As I am sure you can appreciate we have recently had an exceptional hot spell, the hotel does have a limited number of fans available for guest use and we also ordered additional whilst the weather was so hot. Please accept my apologies for the team member not coming back you, this is not our usual standard. With regards to the e-mail you were promised, this was sent out early last week, as you have not received it please could you contact a member of our Guest Services Management team to verify your e-mail address so we can ensure this is sent.
