We stayed just for one night on Friday 28 January as we had a stand at a conference in the hotel the next day. We had booked directly with the hotel for a rate of £89.00 b&b regardless if there had one or two guests, this was exceptionally good value.
The hotel was easy to find right along the water front, in an excellent position in the centre of the city.
The lady who checked us in at around 9.15pm when we arrived was rather surly, but the man was very pleasant. He rang ahead to the hotel's Plaza Brasserie restaurant on the ground floor as it closes at 9.30pm to tell them we were on our way. We enjoyed an excellent meal, a match to any good restaurant in London. Outstanding vaue at £24.95 for 3 courses. We then moved to the lounge area for our coffees.
The bedroom was spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. A good desk area with room to work, a large TV, lots of storage space and a good sized bathroom with quality toiletries.
On the bed were some aromatic sprays for the pillows to help you sleep and a mint chocolate too! The pillows were nice and plump and the sheets very cosy Egyptian cotton.
We had asked for a wake up call in the morning and not only did the phone ring, but the TV switched on a few minutes later just in case we had fallen back to sleep - a sensible idea!
Breakfast was plentiful with a good selection. The cooked food was fresh and appetising.
Our only slight gripe was the car parking charge of £10.00 and for this reason we gave a score of 4 out of 5 for value. This really should be free for staying guests. We did mention this at reception when we checked out and the charge was actually waived, a little reluctantly, after a call to the Conferencing Manager!
All in all, a very pleasant albeit brief stay and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel ....... but please no parking charges for residents.
