“Needs closing down to reburbish”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Stayed here for two nights in June. Downstairs seemed nice and clean but once out of the lift what a difference. The hotel is shabby and run down. Bedrooms are very outdated and desperately in need of some modernisation especially the bathrooms. Window frames are tatty and paintwork bad. Food was average and lady that greets at the door to show you to your table was quite rude to a guest in the que as we were leaving and she then went on to slam the door.

Room Tip: Stay at the Aachen around the corner its much better than here.

Stayed here for 2 nights 4th and 5th July. A great location, close to everything and while most of the staff are welcoming and friendly, the hotel itself looks tired in places and needs a good make-over. Rooms are comfortable, cleaning staff are polite and friendly but the breakfast queue on the Saturday was totally unacceptable. Waiting time was half an hour before getting to a table. Carpets in the room need a good clean and bathrooms need updating very badly. Overall the experience was ok but until it has been updated, we wont be staying here again.

Always wanted a night at the Adelphi But sadly this amazing hotel is over, We paid the same rates as the Hilton and we did it on purpose as it is steeped in tradition, big mistake Liverpool is an amazing city and its shopping, culture, beauty and lovely people are being let doun by this building masquerading as a hotel. It would take all day to list what is wrong. so all I will say is you cant hide behind the Building being old. There are many older hotels in this country and they manage to deliver good service and value for money, decent beds, edible food, drinkable coffee, heating control, open facilities, trained staff, clean bathrooms, decent plumbing etc. In these times when leisure time is so precious to all we cannot afford to allow establishments like this to spoil lifes pleasures. I will return to Liverpool I have many friends there, but a lot will not if they stay at this hotel on their first visit and that is not fair to this great city.

Room Tip: Don't go just don,t go the very good on the breakfast is a mistake I can't delete , can'...

We went on a bus trip to the Adelphi what a horrible place our room had a filthy carpet dirty windows thea would nt shut, no bath handles, no shower mat and so in need of a good update. The worst was meal times we were herded in the restaurant like animals food was never ready the staff were ignorant and unfriendly and to top it all we had a so called gala night we had a bit of salad and curry that was awful we ate out as dare not risk what we were eating we were told that the pool and spa were closed .

Room Tip: Don't have any

Stayed here for two nights and hotel is very central, Liverpool One is a 10 minute walk, and enjoyed my stay as hotel staff friendly, service was helpful, especially at Breakfast but what I can imagine was once a grand hotel in 1960's/70's in now showing its age.

The decor, the colours, the facilities. All need modernising and bringing up-to-day for the 21st century. You don't want to lose the historical elegance of the hotel, especially the magnificent ballroom style room as you first walk in, but many parts of the hotel did appear tired and dated.

It was a nice experience and would not dismiss the idea of staying here again depending on price but there are better central hotels in Liverpool.

This grubby pile needs a complete makeover. We thought, naively, that it would be full of splendour and elegance but there was a smell of Hoover, dirty carpet and old food throughout the ground floor. The food in the downstairs restaurant looked like hospital eating: sliced grey meat in gravy and tinned vegetables. A stale, stuffy smell came from the area and we checked out to go to Novotel.

I stayed here for one night only. The tariff online said £600 per night. When we phoned to book we were booked in for £35 per night.
I instantly complained about the room as it was dark ,damp and very tired and depressing ! I was told I could 'upgrade' to a suite for £10 more!
It was much better than the first room, but was such a sad reflection on what was obviously a very grand old hotel back in the day.
It smelt damp and wasn't that clean either.
A lot of money needs spent on this hotel so it is brought back up to standard. I seriously don't think it warrants a 3star status. I would rather stay in a travelodge or premier inn than this place again.
It's such a shame as it could be an amazing place to stay, that has such a rich history.
C'mon britania,get your finger out !
