“Great for stopovers”

Been a few times with National Holidays, The rooms are a little dated but we've always found them clean & comfortable. The meals have always been good & the breakfast lovely. The entertainment has been second to none each time we've been here. The hotel is situated in a great spot for the city centre & if like me you love shopping you will be in paradise its shoppers heaven.

Stayed here twice with national holidays, once for my 21st in april 2013 and in may 2013... rooms need updating but still a very clean and comfortable hotel, the meals were nice especially breakfast and had lots to choose from (as im a fussy eater). None of my friends had any complaints and it is situated in a great place...the staff were friendly and helpful and the place was an overall great hotel to stay in. Would definately come back.

Let us check in to a dirty room. Apparantly this is common on a Sunday (the maid was shocked we hadn't been allowed to check into a room that hadn't been cleaned before). We checked in at half 2, customers are able to check in from 2. The bins were overflowing, bed had been slept in and no clean towels. After a long trip it was pretty awful not to be able to have a wash as there were no towels, not that it would of made a difference as there was no hot water anyway as they were "filling up the pool". Expected to come back on shortly but had to call in the morning as there was still an issue. The staff can't be bothered and are unhelpful. The hotel itself is old dirty and smelly. The carpets have a coating of dirt to them that make them uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet. The halls smell of stale vomit. It may look nice from the outside but you'd be better staying in a premier Inn. At least your room would be clean.....

The room was dirty hairs in the bed water was running brown , had to get the key cards charged every time we left the room very noisy with the traffic, my friends had a box room compared to ours and were charged the same rate which had to old cups of tea left in when they arrived:-( great location though

after reading all the reviews we were very apprehensive about our stay at the Aldelphi. However, having stayed in a large Britannia hotel before we knew what to expect at meal times! previous guests seem to overlook the fact that it is a grade 2 listed building. It is old and beautiful. The coach and conference trade is the only option to keep the buiding alive.Would you rather see it derelict and boarded up? We enjoyed the ambience of the building and people should embrace this. The beautiful marble lined spacious corridors, the large airy bedrooms and the wonderful lounge.Above all the staff were exceptional and the location is second to none-bus,train and taxis all on the doorstep and walking distance for most of the main attractions and shops. Thanks to the manager for sparing the time to give my friend and I an informative chat about the building.Yes,the dining room was crowded but accept that and enjoy the good food.We would not hesitate in returning.

Stayed here for two nights in June. Downstairs seemed nice and clean but once out of the lift what a difference. The hotel is shabby and run down. Bedrooms are very outdated and desperately in need of some modernisation especially the bathrooms. Window frames are tatty and paintwork bad. Food was average and lady that greets at the door to show you to your table was quite rude to a guest in the que as we were leaving and she then went on to slam the door.

Room Tip: Stay at the Aachen around the corner its much better than here.

Stayed here for 2 nights 4th and 5th July. A great location, close to everything and while most of the staff are welcoming and friendly, the hotel itself looks tired in places and needs a good make-over. Rooms are comfortable, cleaning staff are polite and friendly but the breakfast queue on the Saturday was totally unacceptable. Waiting time was half an hour before getting to a table. Carpets in the room need a good clean and bathrooms need updating very badly. Overall the experience was ok but until it has been updated, we wont be staying here again.
