The room we had 519, was in terrible state and I am sorry I did not complain at the time. The window, such as it was, was plastered with bird droppings, the wall paper was torn and had looked as though it had been sprayed with fake tan, under the beds and furniture had not seen a vacuum for some time. The wedding reception we attended was first class, no complaints at all. And the breakfast was reasonable except for the sausage and bacon being very poor quality. Would not stay here again.

I recently came back from spending a weekend here at the Adelphi hotel. The location was excellent- near everything & especially the pubs. Inside was old fashioned looking but it was something different- quite nice to stay in something so historical. For a weekend stay, it had everything. A bed, a working shower- which is all you really need from a hotel. The rooms also weren't too small & had a TV & tea provided as a welcome. The food wasn't great- we didn't eat there much & the staff weren't the most welcoming. The dining area was way too small for the amount of people there. However, the bar inside the hotel was great- we even had wrist bands for 2 for 1 drinks etc, the gym was huge, there was a nice pool & it was a very spacious hotel. For everyone complaining about the oldness of it- just be glad you got to experience something a little different.

Linedance weekend during the hot weather, the room was stifling but you can't expect aircon in a rundown old building can you.Typical Brittania hotel needs total refurbishment but they seem loath to spend.Lovely room but dirty and in need of TLC,clean comfortable bed, slept well.Hotel convenient for sightseeing first visit to Liverpool.Lovely ballroom, think they used floor for skating rink, sacrelidge.Food great, good buffet breakfast and Dinner, hot food and plates.Won;t be rushing back but was adequate for purpose.Owners should take a look at 3 star hotels in Spain

Room Tip: Don't think you would find a perfect room here

Booked a standard triple room (as advertised) for a weekend away. Rang before booking to ensure had 3 single beds. Rang again day prior to arrival to check 3 single beds. Always assured yes.

Check-in slow due to coach parties. Member of staff gave me reservation card to sign and I noticed it said Twin Standard Room. I brought this to her attention and her answer was "oh it's ok it is a triple". Got to room and sure enough it was a twin with an extra inferior bed shoved in!! To add insult to injury, 2 sets of cups, 2 sets of glasses and 2 sets of towels.

After many phone calls down to reception eventually the duty manager appeared, what an embarrassment to the job title he was! Disinterested, and unapologetic that he had 3 very angry guests making a complaint that was totally justifiable and his response "well you can check-out and get a refund if you like". Friday afternoon in the height of summer and he knew that we had no alternative but to stay as a quick glance on google confirmed that everywhere was booked.

In addition to the poor excuse of a manager, the rest of the staff clearly must have decided to skip the customer service training as they all (with the exception of one, and I mean only one, breakfast waitress) couldn't care less about you as a guest. Guests are obviously seen but shouldn't be heard!!

Decor appalling, plumbing ancient, loud banging from hot water pipe in sink, no lock on bathroom, however maintenance did fix quickly. Huge queues for lifts as one permanently out of order, stood waiting for lift on more than one occasion for it to totally miss our floor, walking down hundreds of stairs instead.

Breakfast is a buffet, fruit juices not replenished, cereal spilt everywhere, no cups on table and asked several times for 3 cups and no sight of anyone serving tea for approximately 20 mins, large flasks of disgusting coffee on tables.

If you want a good nights sleep don't bother, bouncers on hotel entrance steps (nice image to greet you, not!) nightclubs opposite open until early hours with music blasting out.

Positive note - they stored our luggage after check-out until our train late afternoon.

Stayed on night after 3 at the Adagio - what a contrast! We booked a superior room and got a large room (120) in a reasonable state of decor and cleanliness with a standard size rock hard double bed (with a kingsize headboard), an ancient TV with no instructions and random programmes some with subtitles which would not go off, a large and reasonably modern bathroom with a washbasin without a plug and no evidence one had ever been fitted! The room overlooked the internal well and was very warm. Opening the windows made it cooler but let in the noise of the machinery.
Cost us £108 room only which is way over-priced - even £50 would have been expensive. Thought of having breakfast but it was £11.50 each and served is what looked like a works canteen.
Best bet with the Adelphi is to nip in and have a look at the public rooms - the lounge is spectacular - then stay overnight and eat elsewhere as there is far better value to be had.
Always wanted to stay at the Adelphi so, at least we don't need to go there again!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else
