Booked the Adelphi on the last minute (all the other city hotels where booked up). We got a decent deal, but was worried about reviews and nearly canceled at last minute. Fair enough the hotel is not the grand lady it was, but for what we paid for two nights I haven't got any genuine complaints. Check in was smooth, we got a room on the 5th floor which had just been decorated and a new carpet laid, the room was a bit small, but we checked the bathroom and it was spotless, bed was comfortable enough and we had no problems with noise, room service was about average for a busy Saturday night. There was a few Christmas parties going on in the function rooms which added to the atmosphere of the hotel. I can only speak for my experience at this hotel and overhaul I had no issues, and for what we needed, a concert in the University and a train in the morning, it done the job. We never had breakfast, we used the Witherspoons around the corner which was a bargain, compared to the hotel price.

We stayed between Christmas & New Year taking advantage of the special “Twixmus” package (£111 half board for two people (top two floor’s normal room) or £171 for a suite this was the price for 3 days for both of us– quite a bargain !!!)

We chose the suite and were really lucky to be allocated one of the two palatial suites with a big bedroom, our own sitting room with armchairs TV and dining table and big bathroom connected by our own corridor. We were at the front on the second floor – it’s quite noisy at weekends until the early hours with pubs & clubs nearby, but there is double glazing, but no air conditioning.

These suites are on the lower floors with marble corridors and were used by the wealthy passengers when they disembarked from their liners many years ago.

As I have written before the main reason to stay at the Adelphi is the building, really fascinating – not only the bedroom with original fittings but also the public areas – if you want 4 or 5 star luxury then stay elsewhere.

I have stayed here before and the service has certainly improved – the staff were smiling and helpful and the restaurant was well organised both for dinner and breakfast – they had big coach parties in, but organised their meals elsewhere in the building.

The food is wholesome – both dinner & breakfast is self service, with a carvery for dinner – its not very luxurious, but for the price we paid, very good value.

We used the swimming pool each day – it’s the original that’s been modernized – it’s a good size and clean and warm – note though that you have to pay a charge of £5 per stay for the use of the health club.

Free wireless internet is available in the public areas and supposedly on the first floor – it certainly worked very well in the magnificent lounge.

The Adelphi is very well positioned next to Lime Street station and about a 10 minute walk to the main shops and the Mersey.

So if you want an interesting stay and get a good price this is the hotel for you – if you want luxury there are plenty of new hotels springing up in Liverpool.

We have just returned from a weekend break to liverpool we stayed at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel This hotel brought back memories of a past era but sadly today it is in a discusting state, dirty poor food and a lift system that takes you on a mistery tour. The staff are not at all helfull.
I Could not understand how it aquired a 3* rating as I have been in better places with no stars at all.
Would not recomend anybody to stay at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel.

Booked a 3 night stay only information about parking was that it was limited,on arrival we where directed to the hotels indoor parking area this was manned by a full time parking attendant who wanted to know if we would be using the car during our stay, he then advised us that we would probable not be able to park the car again if we took it out . He then asked us to leave the car keys with him so he could park the car and also move it around if anybody else wanted their car out ,(most of the cars where boxed in two or three deep) parking attendant then informed us there is no comeback on him or the hotel if your car is damaged and for this privilege they charge you £12 per day . We returned to hotel reception got a full refund and left.

The Adelphi looks nice from the outside but the crumbling facade conceals horrors that I thought were banished from professional hotels thirty years ago. Reception staff were surley East Europeans, the room was small, stank and was dirty. The toilet seat was broken, the extractor didn't work, the phone was filthy, the toilet paper holder was empty and the mattress was only fit for a tramp. The heating had rusted solid and the hotel gym was an extra charge and being open to the public was shared with half the body builders in Liverpool. The only redeeming feature was the breakfast which was adequate. I complained at the time and sent my full report - with images - the the group HQ which, doubtless getting many such complaints, is virtually impossible to locate and doesn't have the courtesy to reply. I can only suspect all hotels in the group are similarly mis-managed and wouldn't go to any if you paid me.

I stayed here for 3 nights with a friend on a girls weekend away. We were both worried about arriving after reading previous reviews. We arrived earlier than the check in time stated but we given our room straight away without fuss. The room was big enough for the 2 of us, our huge cases and all the items we went on to buy (it was a christmas shopping trip). Some furniture was abit dated but it was clean. People who complain of this should stay at home! We had 2 single beds of normal size, each with 2 pillows and clean sheets. The room was warm and had a temperature controller. The bathroom was good size with alot of shelf space for both of us. It had a bath and very powerful and warm shower. Towels were replaced every day and beds were made every day.
We never ate in the hotel so i cant comment on the food.
The lifts were slow, especially in the morning time when people were checking out but there was a staircase which brings you out into a very grand ballroom with a massive christmas tree which we wouldnt have seen otherwise.
There was security staff on at night checking that only those booked in the hotel got in. This was good as the hotel is very close to the main bar/nightclub area. Infact location wise there couldnt have been better.
The fire alarm did go off once or twice one night but was switched off after only a few seconds, probably some guests having a laugh, and to be honest we found it funny and laughed it off ourselves.
I am definately going back to this hotel.

Had a 2 night twixmas break at the adelphi 27 to 28 dec.really enjoyed every minuteof it.Just as it is a 3 star hotel in a brillant location to visit all the great sites in this city-what can one expect at these prices it was a cheep cheerful break in a basic clean room with wonderfull arciture all arond which some people seem to consider as old fashioned. The staff were efficent and helpfullJennys dining room was clean and staff were continually clearing tables and serving hot food with as much as one could eat for breakfast which equals any 4 star hotel Ihave everstayed at .The evening meal was a 3 course substantial meal offering several choices.Unlike other hotels coach parties were catered for in seperate dining rooms avoiding the chaos experienced in the past.I do think it may be what happens with other guests that may make for a good or bad experience unfortunately hotel staff cant legilistate for this. You get what it says on the packet 3 star accomodation ,if one wants any better my advice is book 4 star and pay 4 star prices.
