Looking at other reviews for this hotel, I can only agree with those that said tired, shabby and over priced. The only good thing was the location but I'm never impressed with having to pay for parking at any hotel.. Downstairs in reception it had an old world charm about the place that I liked but the room was just old. The staff had the attitude that they were working in a posh hotel but it is badly in need of refurbishment and not just the "top show" downstairs but the shabby (but not sheek) bedrooms. Very poor value for money.

Hotel was a bit tired looking , many rooms in need of refurbishment ,the meal were buffet style ,with no imagination , there seemed in general a lack of staff, our room on the fourth floor was clean enough ,but really shabby.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front of the hotel, and right hand side ,both of which over look street ,the overlooks a makeshift car park .

I booked in a rush and based on the price (£145) and a glance at the pictures particularly the exterior assumed this was a decent hotel. Sorely mistaken. Very run down throughout, two TVs in the room neither of which worked, bathroom very tired, creaky bed and noise from outside among others. No positives to speak of. A shame as I imagine this was once a really impressive place. I wasn't entirely surprised as when I mentioned where I was staying in one of my meetings in Liverpool all present laughed and told me to lower my expectations!

Room Tip: Appeared i had a suite and was still very poor standard

Booked by colleague...very tired all round, central but not great. Pool closed in March - doubtful it’ll reopen if investment required is similar to elsewhere in Hotel. The most fantastic building - must have been seriously opulent in its day but that is sadly long gone. Hard bed - poor bathroom and noisy night.

Excellent service and food in Cromptons. We were well looked after by the Manager and waitress. We had starters of king prawns and pate. Our main of chateaubriand was perfectly cooked as were the vegetables. We were too full to have dessert. The restaurant area looks a little dated but the friendly service more than compensated. Thanks for a lovely evening
