Mercure Liverpool Atlantic Tower Hotel
Ranked #42 of 99 Hotels in Liverpool

The staff were very friendly but this is a very 'bog standard' hotel which from outside looks like it may be something special.
The bar on the 2nd floor has been refurbished or so it seems but it lacks any style. However the view from the balcony is excellent.
We stayed two nights but our room was not cleaned util 4.30pm , we were not impressed.
Breakfast was ok but a limited choice. There is no gym or health facilities which I think is a missed opportunity.

Room Tip: Chose a room at the front of the hotel, they overlook the Liver buidling

Dear Cristobella,

I don’t like to think of my hotel as ‘Bog standard’ but I accept that was your perception. The Vu bar was recently refurbished and I think it is lovely to have a coffee in and enjoy the views. It is popular in the evening for a night cap with friends.
I am pleased you enjoyed the Terrace. When the sun is shining it is a real sun trap and often people instantly reach to take pictures.
I would be interested to know what you felt was missing from the breakfast buffet as we normally receive great comments about breakfast.
I can understand your frustrations with the room .It is not normal to leave guest rooms unserviced so late in the day and I have asked housekeeping to investigate and ensure it doesn’t happen in the future.

We certainly welcome all feedback so thank you for your opinions, it is all shared with the team to improve where we can.
Best regards,

Only stayed 1 night but was very pleased with the hotel and liverpool itself is just a great city. We were on a "City break deal" so for the money it was excellent. Only downside was the food was overpriced if you had to pay the full amount but the breakfast was very good and service the same. We were very fortunate in that even though it was a cheap deal the hotel gave us a room with a great view over the mersey thank you to them .

Room Tip: 515 has a great view of the mersey but a little noisy from the road

Dear Pat R
I am pleased you had a great stay at the Atlantic Tower. We have introduced a Market Menu planned by Chef daily which offers 3 courses for a fixed price and is proving very popular. There are great room rates available if you can be flexible with dates and where possible we always try to give upgrades and offer rooms with views when we can, which people enjoy.

Being in a major city location we do struggle with noise in some rooms at times, so like other hotels in the same situation we have introduced ear plugs as an option that guests find helpful. It would be a shame to miss out on the stunning views.
Thanks for your comments and I hope to welcome you back soon on another great deal.

Best regards

Stayed one night, on a 'City-Break' deal - whilst good value for an 'executive' room (large king size bed, overlooking the Liver building) we were really disappointed with the restaurant. The food was overpriced and very 'average' - my wife had a chicken dish, which was simply a chicken breast served on a huge plate of lentils and nothing else... my duck dish was an overcooked duck breast served on a huge mound of beans and a couple of undercooked fondant potatoes.

The parking was very difficult to find, and was tiny when compared to the number of rooms in the hotel. The advertised charge for parking is £10 for 24 hours, so having checked-in at 4pm, we were expecting to be able to leave the car whilst doing a bit of shopping and sight-seeing the following day; however, a somewhat surly receptionist was adamant that we had to be out of the car park by 12:30. When I pointed out to her the sign on the reception desk advising a charge of £10 for 24 hours, she just said "the sign's wrong!". We ended up checking out, then moving the car to a nearby multi-storey...

Despite the above reservations, the room was comfortable (although quite noisy) with all the expected amenities and a fantastic panoramic view from the 10th floor.

On balance, my recommendation would be that if you do stay here, do so on a B&B basis, and eat out on the evening as there are plenty of eateries nearby offering better quality and value.

Room Tip: Pick a high floor for good views over the Mersey.

Dear C_J_L_14

Thank you for taking time to share your experience at the hotel. I am so sorry to hear about your disappointing meal, I do hope you spoke with the Restaurant Manager at the time so he could resolve this problem. Thistle are about to launch the new 2014 menu towards the end of May and intensive training is being carried out to ensure all dishes are served to Brand Standard and that guests have a great dining experience.
Regarding the car park, many guests choose to come by train as we are only 5 minutes from 2 Mersey rails stations that link with Lime St Station. However guests with cars arriving early and guests wanting to leave late can cause capacity problems, so we tend to stick to check in and out times to be fair to all. There is no excuse for a surly manner from the receptionist on duty and I have passed on this comment to our Reception Manager please accept our apologies.

On a more positive note I am pleased you found the rooms comfortable and liked the fantastic views.

Best regards

We only stayed for 1 night here and were very satisfied with this hotel. We had a basic standard room which was very clean, comfortable and everything you would need for a short stay, we had a great view of the Liver birds and Mersey and had a peaceful comfortable nights sleep, breakfast was included in the rate and it was very good. The staff were all helpful and very friendly and its in a great position to walk to shops and bars.
Our second visit to Liverpool and had a great time.

Amazing view of the Liver birds and a good location - easy walk to Liverpool one, docks and cavern club. It provided exactly what we (a young couple) needed for a 2 night stay.
We really enjoyed our stay. Parking is simple and the cheapest for 24 hours.

Got a cracking deal including evening meal - with a complimentary executive room upgrade that had a fantastic view of the Mersey & the Liver building. The reception staff were lovely & helpful on arrival. The bottle of prosecco on ice in our room on arrival with a birthday card from the manager was a lovely touch which we enjoyed watching the boats coming in and out. The bed was massive with a flat screen tv and your usual tea making facilities. Our evening meal was extremely tasty and the dining room staff were a delight. Breakfast was also great and the staff couldn't have been any friendlier - fab hotel, fab staff in a fantastic location - we will be back !!

Room Tip: We had room 1022 - amazing view

The thistle hotel was great. All the staff were very helpful and went out of the way to make our stay enjoyable. The food in the hotel was super and when another diner complained about the steak the staff handled it so well I was really impressed. The location was superb right at the side of the Mersey and just near the ferry crossing. The rooms were a little on the small side but all other aspects of the hotel more than compensated for this. They were well decorated and very clean. Wonderful visit.
