“Excellent value and handy location with a great Liverpool welcome”
Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

Quick checkin with very friendly and helpful staff. Twin room was a bit tight, but only due to two very comfy double beds. Nice!
Bathroom clean, and the good sized bath was very welcome after a long day.
Continental buffet breakfast included in price.
Bar service available on ground floor round the clock at normal pub prices. Hot day, no aircon, but the fan they gave us did a great job overnight. Overall: a great welcome, cleanliness well ahead of many larger, better known hotels, and proper customer service. Yes, I'll stay here again.

Stole a deal at under GBP40 for a single room. Right next to Lime Street Station. Reasonable breakfast included. Friendly staff. Clean and feel safe. Room is understandably small, but clean and bathroom very functional. Free wifi was unstable in room but much better at public places. Lift only reaches 2nd floor. Need to take stairs for 3rd. It was extremely noisy close to dark falls and early morning as the sea gulls return. Not the Hotel's fault I must say.

I arrived in the evening of July 2nd, 2014 at this hotel and was greeted by a warm, friendly face and a big welcome. Check-in took just a matter of minutes and I was soon on my way to the room. My first impressions on opening the door to my room (115) was wow what a beautiful hotel. I quickly took a look at the bathroom and was amazed by the cleanliness of the most important part of any ensuite room.

The next "test" was the bed. I was amazed with how comfortable the bed was. Not too soft, not too hard. I had a very comfortable first night's sleep. I also had six further good nights sleep as the bed was so comfortable.

The tea and coffee making facility in the room was ample and if I needed any extras the staff were so obliging. I also asked for a mug as I like to have a big drink. The crockery sparkled with cleanliness and the kettle was without any signs of lime scale! Overall the facilities were A1+++

The television in the room was of good size (38 inch+) and was fitted with an alarm which is set by using the TV's "on" time for either once or daily.

Overall the room was very comfortable and was keept very clean.

The breakfast room (which also backs up as a lounge) is set mainly as a lounge but made for comfortable dining. The breakfast was more than ample and is served as a Continental breakfast. There is a plentiful supply of food at breakfast with a good choice on offer, but please remember that the breakfast is Continental. Food hygiene is faultless. Breakfast is served a little later at the weekend which is ideal if you want to have a bit extra time in bed.

The staff are very friendly and approachable. If there are any problems they are onto it withouit delay. The staff won't tolerate any noise at night and operate a policy of removing the troublesome guest(s). Other hotels I have stayed in won't even bother! This hotel shows that it cares for all of its guests which is a very good plus point. The manager is the best manager I have ever encountered at any hotel throughout the world. I have been to serveral countries but have never met a manager so nice and so friendly as the manager of The Lord Nelson.

My overall opinion of The Lord Nelson is:

Situated very close to Lime Street Station, this hotel is ideally located for the City Centre and local shopping. Is located by the Empire Theatre which is one of Liverpool's finest theatres. Museums and the main library are all within walking distance. If you fancy a late night supper, then this hotel is very close to Liverpool's finest fish and chip restaurants "The Lobster Pot"

Location wise I cannot fault the hotel as it couldn't have been placed better. No noise from the trains or the main Lime Street which is less than 300 yards away. A city centre hotel but a budget price. I paid £274 (Price at 2nd July - 9th July, 2014) for 7 nights bed and breakfast as a single person. To me that is good value for money for a high season stay at a beautiful hotel.

If you are looking for a beautiful hotel to stay in for a break, business trip or as in my case a full holiday then I would recommend The Lord Nelson Hotel of Hotahom Street, Liverpool.

Stayed there on 8th July as we were at a Gig at the O2 Academy which is right next door. Both are right next to Lime Street Station and the hotel was fine. Cheap, cheerful and convenient.

The only downside was the bed was a little uncomfortable but otherwise the place was good.

Nice breakfast the following morning.

Stayed as we were at a gig next door at the academy. The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was spotless and huge. All the staff were friendly and made you feel welcome.
Only grumble was that the old style sash window wouldn't stay open unless propped which is hardly the biggest deal in the world.
If I go to Liverpool again for a show I will definitely stay again.

Just as one should not judge a book by its cover and the same goes for the Lord Nelson with its unappealing exterior, reception area and public area as the rooms, breakfast and staff service are all of the highest standard. Overall our stay at the Lord Nelson could only be described as exceptional value for money. And its proximity to Lime Street Station is a added bonus.
