Just got back from a weekend break to Liverpool and two nights stay at Devonshire House Hotel. Read previous reviews prior to travelling and was a bit wary but on arrival was pleasantly surprised. Rooms were clean and tidy, staff very friendly and food of a very high standard. The hotel is set in own grounds and is within easy walking distance to local amenities including McDonalds, Lidl, Off Licence as well as pubs. My mother and I had a lovely weekend and would like to thank all staff for making our stay a pleasant one. Will definately visit again. Many Thanks.

Room Tip: Ask for room with view as our room looked out onto private grounds.

My son and I shared a twin bedded room whilst working at conference in Liverpool. After making the booking I read several very negative reviews and was therefore somewhat cautious but what a lovely surprise. The room wasn't overly large but then this is reflected in the price and everything worked including endless really hot water. Breakfast was brilliant and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I would definitely recommend to others

I would like to thank all the staff in the Devonshire House Hotel Edge Lane, particularly Lindsey Devine and all the kitchen staff for the spectacular service.I would also like to thank Marie from the reception desk for giving us a pleasantly warm welcome. Also, thanks to Debbie Hayden which was the manager that looked after us..
The cleaning staff were very polite and friendly and we had fresh towels everyday.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will definitely be back in the near future.
Overall the hotel is outstanding and i would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending anybody to this hotel !!!

Stayed here in May when I went with a friend to see an Everton game (can't remember who they played!). We thought it seemed a bit grand for us (we tend to stay in Travelodges or Premier Inns) but it only cost £40 so it was better for us. There is also a bus stop outside which is very convenient for getting to the city centre!

The hotel was fairly central to the part of Liverpool we wanted - the town centre and Anfield football ground. In fact the football ground is within a half hour walk. The hotel is comfortable, bedrooms and bathrooms very clean. The decor is a little tired, but all I want from a hotel is a clean and comfortable room. The buffet breakfast was of good quality and most importantly the cooked food was kept hot. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for a weekend where accommodation doesn't cost too much.

First time I've ever written a review but I felt I had to as this is quite positively the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful gardens which are an oasis in one of the less glamorous suburbs of Liverpool. But the gardens were as good as it got. We were meant to book in by 2pm but were told that some rooms weren't ready, by 3pm six of our party had still not checked in. We retired to the bar for a drink, shocking 1980's torn floral wallpaper clashes with the bright green tartan frayed carpet and the floor was filthy with the remnants of stale fish and chips ingrained into it. Bar was full of dirty glasses, no barman in sight and when he did appear it was almost £14 for four warm budweisers. We were then told that the key cards in the room were faulty and someone had to accompany us to our room every time we wanted o get in and out. They told us the people who mend the key card machines don't come out on a weekend! It's impossible for more than four people to get out of the lift before the doors close, one of our party found himself shut in returned to the ground floor and then had to make his way back up to the third. Our room was at least clean but the hairdryer didn't work, the bathroom door wouldn't shut properly and the bed squeaked to high heaven whenever you made the slightest move. Barely slept all night and when I finally got off I was woken at 5am with what sounded like someone emptying the bottle bank. Having returned from a long day around the St Matthews Street festival we asked reception if we could order pizza, they were very nice and said no problem, however, it arrived 2 hours later when we'd finally given up any hope of it appearing and gone to bed! Breakfast was average but the waitresses hadn't a clue and couldn't seem to supply crockery and cutlery at the same time! All in all we did enjoy our stay in Liverpool but it was definitely in spite of the accommodation not because of it. You get what you pay for!!!

Room Tip: Take your own hairdryer
