“Good hotel, walking distance from the city centre”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

Clean, comfortable accommodation within walking distance of the city centre and on the waterfront. Definitely value for money.

I'd requested a room at the end of the hall on the waterfront side and that's exactly what I got.

However on the downside there was an air of stale cigarettes in the room which was odd.

I got back to the hotel at 11.15pm and had to buzz to get in, the staff on reception were very cold to me and practically barked at me for my room number - but that's just 1 occurrence the other staff seemed lovely and very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the waterfront side and away from stairs/lift

Booked 2 rooms at this hotel for 1 night for the Andre Rieu concert in the Echo Arena. Easy quick check in and good parking facilities. Rooms were clean and tidy. My parents had a room with a lovely view of the water and was very quiet. We on the other hand had a room at the front of the hotel with a view of the road and much noisier. The bathrooms are small, pod-like rooms but were fine for what we needed.
We didn't have breakfast but we ate in the restaurant in the evening. The lasagne, gammon and BLT were all lovely, reasonably priced and very filling.
Excellent location for the Echo Arena. We did get a taxi there because we were running a bit late but we needn't have really bothered. We walked back from there and it was a rather nice stroll.
Would recommend for location, at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dolby for three nights and were thoroughly impressed. The Dolby is in a fantastic location - 15min walk from the city centre and 15min away from Liverpool Lime Street.

We checked in quite late (9.45pm) on a Friday, and were greeted by friendly, smiley staff. Our room was located on the ground floor (room 6) and was absolutely spotless. The shower is a bit small but you really can't fault the temperature or pressure of it, it'll definitely wake you up in the morning.

We opted for the cooked breakfast, and were very impressed by the generous size of our plates - they're very filling so you won't feel hungry for at least a couple of hours!

What we both loved about the Dolby is that the staff genuinely care about their guests; they were more than happy to chat to us about the local area, or about the recent footie results, and it's personal touches like this that really make the hotel shine. The staff went above and beyond what was asked of them to make our stay enjoyable, so much so, that we're already planning our next trip to Liverpool in the new year.

We stayed here from Friday to Sunday and cannot fault it at all so here is my review.

Location ....perfect only 10-20 min walk to Liverpool one and Liverpool shopping centres 5 minute walk to Echo Arena and the riverside...we walked all along the riverside on Sunday all the way into town went past lovely buildings and statues was a lovely day and a lovely leisurely walk. Near to the Hotel is the Leo Casino which we went on the Saturday night will write a different review for that Macdonalds and KFC are across the road and Mcd is a 24hr drive through.

Hotel... Very clean and fanatastic views at the rear. Breakfast was gorgeous we only had continental but there was a lot of choice we had an evening meal the first night we arrived and being vegetarian was pleased to see a lot of choice the meals were gorgeous and very reasonably priced even had a pudding!!

Room... read review before and was expecting a box room..no this was not the case the room was adequate and bigger than an Ibis room there was a double bed a table and chair tv on the wall plenty of coathangers no wardrobes plenty of floor space the bathroom was small but adequate and water always hot and the shower pressure fab. We were in 108 with views over the harbour and what views they were especially at night glorious! It was also very quiet though I would imagine that the rooms facing the road may not be quite as quiet.

Staff..Loved the staff from the moment we arrived until we left all really nice esp the reception staff that were there all weekend the gorgeous young man and the lovely girls

We will back to Liverpool and will be staying at THE DOLBY thank you for a fab stay

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back as these have the water views and are much quieter I would imagine than o...

We came across The Dolby Hotel by chance. We were on the tour bus and it came down a road in front of The Dolby. There was a board outside advertising rooms for £29. We collected our car and made our way to see if there was a room available. There was only the disabled room free and we took that, although it was £50 not £29. Mind, after reading the reviews once we'd booked in, I think this was lucky, as the room was a really good size.
Clean, with comfortable bed and nice linen. Enough storage and tea and coffee facilities with a biscuit included! Lots of hot water available with a good shower.
We ate in the restaurant both nights we were there and the food was very good. Also the breakfast. Mind, there is nothing fancy about the restaurant-wouldn't do for a romantic meal!
The staff were lovely. Laura went out of her way to make us welcome. All the staff we spoke to were helpful with lots of advise about where to visit etc.
The only thing that was a problem was the heating in the room. It was bitterly cold outside and we were hoping to get warm quickly, but it didn't happen! On both days the staff had to come and sort it out for us.
We would certainly stay again but in the Summer when the heating wouldn't be needed!

Stayed at the dolby for one night when going to the echo arena. The hotel is clean and staff were very welcoming. The room was small but ok for one or two nights. The location is excellent only 5 mins away from the arena and a 10 from Albert docks and 15 from twin centre. The bar area by the river would have been nice in warmer weather. We paid £49 for the room through a booking site but should have rang direct as some rooms were advertised as £25. Breakfast was a good full English, ours took a while to arrive but when I told the staff we got a refund on the cost which was good of them. Would recommend for a handy location for those not looking for luxury hotel just a base.
