“Will not stay here again”
Reviewed 7 February 2008

The good thing about the hotel
is that its very central, and you can walk 5 min to the city center and albert dock is just over the street.

The downside:, the room was small.
Hard bed, terrible breakfast, and the staff were not any helpfull.
I had already paid for my room on the internett, and i said this when i checked in. Anyway they blocked 200 pounds on my creditcard. I had some problems because of this. I would pick another hotel..

The hotel is very simple and i would stay somewhere else next time.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We travelled from Ireland as part of a package to see Liverpool play in Anfield. The package was quiet expensive and when I realised we were staying in an Ibis I was disappointed to say the least.
We took the bus from the Airport which is really convenient. We were on an early flight and couldn't check in straight away so pleasant receptionist took our bags and we headed over to the Beatles Museum which is a must for all Beatles fans and is only a few minutes walk from the Ibis.
The bedroom was quiet small and the mattress a little uncomfortable but by no means the worst I've ever slept on! Bathroom only has shower but was a good powerful one with plenty of hot water.
it's really convenient to walk to the bus stop from the hotel and the bus service in Liverpool is excellent.
Breakfast was really nice and the lady who served is to us is the friendliest person I have ever seen working in a hotel and I have worked in hotels for 9 years now! She went above and beyond the call of duty and it seemed she was on her own...she was constantly smiling!
Overall I was impressed and my misconception about Ibis is no more!

I think some of the negative reviews here might be confusing the Ibis with its neighbour, Formule 1 (in fact, the two buildings are joined and share a car park).

We stayed one night in Formule 1 then went straight to the Ibis next door. It was around twice the price but very comfortable, safe and clean.

Nothing special but no problems at all.

  • Liked — Location, very clean and comfortable
  • Disliked — Nothing wrong with the hotel, but not very luxurious.

Party of 10 had a weekend stay at the Ibis.

Location excellent for Albert Docks and City centre. Secure and free car park.

Nice modern hotel, rooms compact, clean and tidy. Liked the bathroom concept.

Staff polite and friendly but on downside the hotel was seriously understaffed.

Had to queue for ages at the bar, which was understocked (no bitter or lager on a Friday nght!) Restaurant was a bit pricey considering we waited for up to an hour and a half for the meal and then had to return it to the kitchen because it was cold!

Breakfast time was similarly chaotic - couldn't cope with large numbers and again food was cold.

Would stay here again but on room only basis.

Management - please get more staff or you'll lose out on the bar and catering side.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. It is quite hard to locate in the busy Liverpool traffic but is fairly well located near to the Albert Dock. Check in was great and friendly. We were immediately informed about the lift repairs which was useful to know. Our room was indeed right next to the very noisy repairs but it is not the kind of hotel you stay in and relax so we went to explore. The repairs didn't start until around 11am which was very considerate.
Our room faced the road which is actually the best position as its a great view. The room was clean and tidy with an unusual pod bathroom with a great shower.
We ate in the restaurant for breakfast twice which was better than the 3* offerings we had had in the previous hotel we had stayed in. Full English, breads, and a more continental meat and cheese option as well as cereals. We had a meal one night which was fine, lasagne a bit microwaved and burnt but salad nice. Room service does involve you actually having to go and order it and bring it to your room yourself but its only 2*.
The only fault I would say was the bed. It is absolutely rock hard with solid pillows. I had brought my own pillow but could still feel their solid pillow underneath. I ended up hurting my back in my sleep and I think they may also have some hungry biting bugs as I was very itchy on my legs.
You get what you pay for but don't expect to sleep well!

  • Liked — Nice staff
  • Disliked — Uncomfortable bed and terrible computers - £1 for 10 mins access at such a slow speed - don't use it!

This hotel was over-priced, the staff were terrible & unfriendly, rooms were tiny , like a room in a caravan , bathroom was ridiculous, you could barely have a wash, was the same size as the toilet on an airplane, no atmosphere at all everyone was so boring & dry . Breakfast was a complete rip off , absolutly disgusting, they must re-heat the left overs every morning, i would advise people to stay away from this hotel & go to the premier inn hotel which is fabulous, much cheaper , we left the ibis because it was so bad and went there instead
