Owner description: A 15-minute walk from its Anglican counterpart along Hope Street, 1960s' "futurism" best describes the exterior of what's locally know as "Paddy's Wigwam." The huge interiors illuminated by natural light through the exquisite stained glass is worth the journey itself.

“Unexpected beauty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

There are many opinions about the appearance of this Cathedral from those who love its uniqueness to those who hate its moderness. But whatever yout thoughts are about the outside you cannot fail to be surprised and delighted by the interior.

The glass in the windows create beautiful light shows around the cathedral, whatever the weather, and the atmosphere is so serene and peaceful, like a warm blanket. The Guides are only to willing to explain things to you and are understandably very proud of their cathedral and it's history.

If you can, try to attend the 11:00 Mass on Sundays, when the full choir usually sing, you don't need to be particularly religious to appreciate the beauty of their performance, the Georgion chants will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, visitors are always welcomed.

Not many city's can boast two extemely different cathedrals, both worth a visit, although both so different in appearance, and thankfully with close relations between the two.

“Huge and Modern!”

Well worth a visit to see the modern layout. Much darker inside than I expected having read so much about the ethereal light from the stained glass windows.I particularly liked the Stations of the Cross.

“Magnificent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Always wanted to visit this since it was opened and finally got round to it. Superb experience - the only cathedral "in the round" in Europe, so we were told by the friendly steward who intercepted us and freely explained all the features. Sounds daft but we walked round twice without realizing, we were so captivated.
