“Great space - fantastic Mondrian exhibition”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Lovely space in a converted warehouse in the Albert Dock area. We came to Liverpool specifically to visit the Mondrian exhibition and it was well worth the trip. A fantastic exhibition. I disagree with the reviewer who described the replica of his studio as a "gimmick". This really showed how he used the walls of the studio to develop his paintings by moving around squares and rectangles of painted cardboard on white walls. Mondrian truly lived with his art.

One tip to parents - there is a family room with toys where young children can play rather than be taken screaming and shouting around the museum - a space where those shouts and screams echo and are magnified!

“Good venue for what we wanted....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

Our first visit to Liverpool and the current Mondrian exhibition inspired the trip. It was a pleasure to see so many works gathered together - the replica of the studio is a bit of a 'gimmick, but interesting to see. The photos and film also added depth to the story. Didn't see much of the rest of the venue, as we only visited this display. The cafe was OK - chipped china and not the cleanest and tidiest of places, but good enough.

The gallery is in a lovely part of the city - the Albert Docks area are a lovely place to be on a sunny Sunday morning. Very vibrant, with lots of things going on for all ages and close to a lot of other attractions.

“Mondrian at the Tate Liverpool”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

The layout on this brilliant exhibition shows the artist's development from some very early works to some of his last 'completed' paintings. The groupings were inspired - some works had not been shown together since 1920!! We joined a guided tour, (which is well worth the small fee) our well informed guide, Jeanette, gave us plenty of background information to the many wonderful paintings and some understanding of this talented mysterious man. A replica of his studio showed us how much he influenced the 'less is more' idea. A well curated gallery with friendly staff. We look forward to visiting many future exhibitions.

“Tate and Mondrian”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

Recommend a visit to Liverpool Tate anyway as it's such an pleasant place to visit - so spacious and the labelling just informative, not pretentious. The Mondrian exhibition was impressive, particularly the replicre of his studio with a real person there to tell us about it in an informed and accessible way - lunch in the cafe and a wander round the exhibitions is a really enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in Liverpool. (Family visit - grown up son)

A great exhibition and well laid out. The staff are so friendly and happy to share their knowledge and answer questions. The mini studio brings the work to life.
