“Excellent range of artwork”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

This gallery is well laid out and there are numerous outstanding works of art. The notes accompanying the paintings are also informative.
It was also pleasing to see that young children were encouraged to go round the gallery with what I assume was a form of treasure hunt.
We were particularly impressed with the Grayson Perry exhibition.

“Fantastic Gallery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

Went yesterday at the end of the Grayson Perry Tapestry exhibition, the other exhibition being the internationally famous John Moores Painting prize.

The Walker is a must visit for any visitor to Liverpool, handily placed next to both St Georges Hall and The World Museum. Whatever exhibitions are on the permanent collection is excellent, with busts and statues, craft and of course paintings of mainly a classical style as well as previous winners of the John Moores prize. There are Turners, Hockneys and Martins in the permanent collection.

I would advise anyone who gets the opportunity to see the Grayson Perry Hogarth inspired Taperstries to go and have a look, its well worth it.

The John Moores prize was typical with some excellent choices, some controversial and others leave the visitor scratching their head. I was particually taken by Frank Pudney's People 69104.

“Beautiful building housing impressive art.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

I love the Walker Art Gallery - there are treasures in it that you might not expect to find. We found a few Stubbs paintings we had not expected - it is a very welcoming and intimate space, whilst being an impressive building and up there with all the London art galleries!

“An excellant day”

So much to see. You can just take your time and enjoy what you like. Easy access. There were plenty of seats to enable a study of the paintings and photos were allowed in most areas. I will visit again
