The only way to see inside both Paul and John's childhood homes is with the National Trust. The minibus picks you up either from the Jury's Inn near the Albert Dock or from Speke Hall, and the whole trip takes approximately two and a half hours, and was extremely well organized. The minibus is always in the right place at the right time to take you to your next destination, the driver was friendly and helpful and, of course, you listen to Beatles music on the journey.
At each home you are met by an extremely knowledgeable guide - the day we visited we were lucky enough to have a husband and wife team, who knew a great deal about the homes and lives of the Beatles. They were very entertaining with lots of anecdotes and funny stories to share. Because the tour is limited to (I think) 15 people, it's very intimate and personal. The highlight was singing in the porch of John's house to hear the acoustics - amazing to be in the place where John and Paul would rehearse together.
A wonderful experience for any Beatles fan - I can't recommend it highly enough.
