A potentially beautiful park with an amazing history and background to it.Its a shame its not being used to its full potential. The park is huge and is good for walking the dog and jogging. There are some pretty sights around the lake, especially from the bridge.

Then took a stroll though the Park Liverpools first victorian park.

Bit of a hidden gem - looks like it needs a wedge of investment but Newsham Park is a proper London-scale Victorian park with two big lakes, lots of mature trees and also some amazing buildings, especially the (derelict) gothic Orphanage.

Not all that much in the way of facilities but the three playgrounds look very popular. There were volunteers out painting and planting this afternoon (more needed please, keep it up) and a new school and pavilion have been built so perhaps Newsham Park is on the up again.

Definitely well worth a visit if you're interested in architecture, parks and heritage, just don't expect Kew Gardens... loads of free parking on Gardeners Drive by the lake and a very good fun 'outdoor gym' (rowing machines etc.) by the new pavilion. Looks like that has toilets and a cafe kiosk but they weren't open on my visit - maybe too new.

Old Victorian left-over of a park in a run-down part of the city. A bit tatty not worth a visit.
