The whole area around the Pier Head is full of remarkable early 20th century architecture, The obvious examples are the famous three: the Liver Building. the Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool building - but frequently overlooked is the George's Dock Building, an outstanding art deco creation that now serves as the ventilation system for the Mersey Road Tunnel. As well as exploring the immediate Pier Head area, head up Water Street towards the Town Hall for some more interesting architecture of this period.
