Great hotel can't praise it enough. The staff were friendly and helpfull and nothing was to much trouble. The room was very clean and bright and looked as though it had been recently decorated. The choice at breakfast was very good with a selection of hot and cold dishes served by a very friendly lady. The food was freshly cooked and very hot. We had two evening meals in the restaurant which were excellent and very good value for money. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are going to book again for later in the year as we did not have enough time to see everything we wanted.

Stayed here again after watching Everton beat Newcastle in the final game of the season. The standard of food and service in the restaurant is way above what you might expect in a small suburban hotel. Will go back again without a doubt.

I stayed at this hotel while attending a friends wedding. The staff are lovely but the hotel itself is very dated. Breakfast was ok but there wasn't a vast choice. Great location. Shower was awful. Good points and bad but ok if you just want the basics

I was lucky enough to be booked into this hotel by clients for a wedding I filmed and therefore didn't pay to stay, however this doesn't influence my review.
Check-in was easy despite not being booked in my name, the reception staff being very helpful and clear in what was needed. I was offered assistance with luggage - could be useful as being a Grade II listed building there are no lifts. My room was a single. Generous storage for clothes, very clean, well lit and with a coastal view. LCD telly on the wall, trouser press should you need it, a fan if its hot and plenty of complimentary tea and coffee.
When I returned late Saturday night/early Sunday morningI took advantage of the residents bar (and WiFi) and was pleasantly surprised with the prices - booking drinks to your room can be alot more expensive than here.
Breakfast was good, though I have no idea of its cost so couldn't comment. Friendly waitress that wasn't in your face asking if everything was ok, but was discretely there should anything be required. Plenty of choice, hot and cold, and a very nice restaurant area.
Overall a very enjoyable experience, thank-you.
Oh yes, and I met the cat too :)

we attended a birthday party in nearby Blundell Sands at the end of September.
This was our second visit in the last twelve monhs with 11 family members all of whom have nothing but praise for the hotel itself but especially the pleasant and helpfull staff.
We will certainly return on future visits.
The hotel is handily placed for the railway station with cheap fares into Liverpool centre or the opposite direction Southport and more

Room Tip: ask for a front room ,nicer view

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights on business and found it to be a very friendly and welcoming hotel, and not only the staff - the black cat that met me at the door every morning seemed very pleased to see me!The staff were great and nothing seemed to be a problem.
As I had a lot of work to get through I made full use of room service and found that the food was good, well presented, reasonably priced and prompt. The room I had overlooked the pub next door and so I was treated to a live band one night and karoke the next. Wasn't too loud though and finished at normal pub time (the band were quite good!)
I would have preferred a duvet to the sheets and blankets that were on the bed and I found that closing the curtains obscured the radiator, but other than that the room was good, and for a change there were enough plug sockets to run a laptop and printer and recharge my phone as well as boil a kettle.
The location is very good to the north of Liverpool and it is in walking distance (half a mile) of the local railway station (Waterloo...no not that one, this one is near Bootle). There are trains into Liverpool about every 20 minutes at rush hour and the fares are reasonable.
The car park is quite small, however, there is plenty of on street parking.
