“trip booked to stay in this hotel.”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

Stayed for two night as a family of 4. Room consisted of two double beds. Chose to stay at this hotel as impressed with the style and decor and planned our trip from there, rather than choosing a hotel to suit our plans.
On arrival reception staff very helpful and informative. As was the cases for the duration of our stay.
Very happy with the room, the impressive decor continued throughout the hotel and not just the facade of the hotel. Clean fresh and tidy rooms. Noise from other guest was non existent, as was the outside noise even with the window open, didnt even notice overhead planes from the airport less than a mile away. The fan/heater was a little on the noisy side within the room but not to cause a problem.
We had a bit of a problem with the thermostat and temperature of the room but nothing worth complaining about. And we were woken at 1am but what we suspected was the smoke alarm. Again nothing worth complaining about.
I would have liked a bit more information in the room about facilities in the hotel and gym next door. I had to use the internet on several occasion to find information i would have preferred to be available to me, without having to bother anyone.
The only thing i can not comment on is the bar and restaurant. We decided that the prices were just too expensive in comparison to what was available locally. Nearly £50 for a family of 4 to eat breakfast in the hotel when there is so much choice available local.
Would definitely recommend and stay again given the chance.

Lovely building with a lot of character. As the old airport terminal there are even some old aircraft parked out the back! Room was a good size with two comfortable double beds. Nice little touches like free bottled water and some aromatherapy 'sleeping spray', a bit unusual and not very effective but it shows they're thinking about their customers. Staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was reasonably good with free newspapers. Bus service into city centre is from a stop just outside the hotel and takes about 15 mins.

All in all, an excellent stay for a family of 4 for less than £110.

From the moment you enter the reception and get that warm scouse welcome you just know your stay is going to be good. Fabulous art deco design and plenty of space in the bar lounge to have private conversations with your guests and more importantly the same in the dining area for evening meal and breakfast! Our room was spacious with 2 huge and very comfortable beds and lovely bathroom. We stayed for the 2 night stay, first night dinner deal which was also worthwhile and we both had the 3 course set menu which was lovely, you can choose off the main menu as you have about a £20 allowance but the set menu is great value. We went into liverpool centre the next day and there are bus stops just outside the hotel which costs £4 each (day ticket) and it takes around 25 mins to get to liverpool 1. There is also a damons restaraunt next to the hotel which was very pricey and to be honest quite disappointing and also across from the hotel a retail park including macdonalds and pizza hut. Overall wonderful stay and will be returning to crown plaza soon

What a great character hotel - we loved the art deco design. Nice not to have a box hotel. Friendly welcome. Nice room with easy wifi access. Great bathroom. Plenty of parking - free overnight.
Lack of info on hotel and local facilities though - I think this may have been on the TV but that doesn't really work for me.
Had 0500 hrs flight so decided to eat in. Wasn't wowed by the menu choices and ended up in the bar to eat as there was only 2 people in the restaurant. Sharing platter starter was small and disappointing for the money but mains were fine and tasty. Couldn't fault the friendly service. Bar was pretty empty as everyone seemed to have gone out but staff chatted away with us and made us feel very welcome. Will probably use the hotel again when flying from Liverpool airport.

{Not a specific hotel issue but more an IHG issue .......Have to agree with comment below though about the IHG points system - they pull you in with promises and free upgrades etc but it never quite works out - ...currently spending 6 nights a month in IHG hotels so as an platinum elite (special customers ?!?) ....did expect an upgrade. They are all the same though was a top tier Hilton card holder and had similar issues}

Thank you for sharing your feedback from your recent stay at Crowne Plaza Liverpool. your review has been cascaded to our teams.

I would like clarify that we do try to complementary upgrade as many IHG Platinum Elite members as we can but we have a limited amount of Club rooms therefor cannot accommodate every upgrade request, but I can assure you we do try to assign our larger corner rooms or rooms with views of the old airfield to those IHG guests.

Many thanks

Stayed in this hotel for couple of times for business travels. I have stayed in other Crowne plaza hotels also. Upon stepping the hotel you can find friendly reception staffs. The rooms were clean, comfortable and warm on par with other crowne plaza hotels.
Good breakfast collection and enough coffee and tea facilities and good car parking.
One complaint for me was poor wifi you can't even open a google search page after 6PM where there would be many people using it. Stayed in other hotel which are inferior than crowne plaza have very good WIFI connection. I have experienced this same speed on the both the occasion and spoke to some other regular guest which seems the bad internet is the norm. I feel this is deterrent factor for a business hotel.
Apart from this its a good places to stay apart from internet.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel and were greeted by friendly staff we knew we would enjoy out stay. What a difference a warm welcome makes. The cases were taken to the bedroom and a tip was refused as it was part of the service.
The bedroom was clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is decorated in 1940-50 style furniture and it is well done.
I used the David Lloyd complimentary gym facilities next door and this was a good way to relax in the pool and use the steam room etc.
We ate in the restaurant and my lamb was cooked to perfection. Unfortunately my wife selected "Scousse" and the meat was very tough. When this was pointed out to staff the response was excellent. She was offered another choice and the meal cost was deducted from the bill. The chef sent out a response that he would be contacted their supplier the following day.
With our deal we had a taxi service included to and from the airport terminal and this was very efficient, thus making for a hassle free start to our flight.
We found all the staff looked as if they actually enjoyed doing their jobs, and they were all local people. When we commented on this we found that they were all friends and helped each other.
Well done the management and staff.

We can only really remember the building which is lovely but were not impressed by the staff. We always have room service as we arrive late, are often tired and have to work. But why oh why is the menu always so poor? So many hotels have the same poor quality and unhealthy choices and it is a 'battle' to be 'allowed' to eat from the main menu. Then there is the double tray charge if you want dessert later ... and if it is ice cream, we prefer it cold!
